5·3 months agoThis doesn’t track. On one side you say this will directly affect incredibly small number of people but this incredibly small number of people also flood posts with their one vote? Wouldn’t that be incredibly small number of votes per post?

51·3 months agoThat’s… really weird.
On the surface the reasoning behind it makes sense, but there is also something about it (that I can’t quite point out yet) that rubs me the wrong way.

Yoy described the current solution I believe.
The more hoops they put in place to jump through, the less people would consider going outside Google Play. And the more control Google has on the ecosystem.

I guess I just got really excited about it all.
I remember this being an established meme already when I was still on reddit, so it predates that

But I was hoping for more info an mayne also a not so distant release window. Per webpage looks like beta is planned for fall 2027 so I guess this one is still 2 years away at least.

4·4 months agoAt one point I was considering getting a used PS4 or something because God of War looked right up my alley. Never pulled the triger because of the cost and because I knew I couldn’t enjoy it as I could on a PC (I’m unable to play games like that on a controller).
So happy I could get it and experience it on a PC. And while I’m sad I won’t be able to get any sequels or the upcoming remake I’m now not buying a PS even harder.
Thanks for answering! I actually just tried out Droidian and was blown away that it runs Waydroid in a way that ypu can have Android and Linux apps pretty seamlessly side by side. Up until now I was under impression that to use Waydroid you need to open it and run apps that way. But nope! It boggles my mind this is not talked about more.
I was wondering… on their website they say it can run Android apps - is this just via Waydroid, or is there something else in place?
I have one for a long-ish time, started really using it now. It is daunting at first (still is) but I can feel the potential. You just have to invest some time in getting to know it and how to set it up.
Proprietary apps might be more user friendly, but I guess that’s how they get you. Also, I imagine HA is easier if you want to set up something overly specific.
I’m still in the daunting phase though.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's your favorite film and why?English
11·5 months agoLord of the Rings. It has all my heart desires. Great shots of nature, camaraderie, action, feels, swords, a message, charge of the Rohirrim… I could go on. It’s a masterpiece.
You may say it’s cheating, that’s three movies - well to that I say the books are also actually one book split into three. They shot all the movies together as well. Besides, I only ever watch them all or not at all so… one big movie as far as I’m concerned.

This is anecdotal, but yeah. I once mentioned this google thing to my wife. She was due to change her phone and once I explained she was like “I’d like to have what you have” so she is now on a refurbished Pixel with Graphene.
