@BeAware@social.beaware.live oh yeah… I think it’s mostly a device to sell other devices. Gets you into their ecosystem and tied to it. Their products are substandard though.
@BeAware@social.beaware.live The use case, these days is more getting status of devices or changing device states through voice - turn the lights on, turn off TV (including all the accessories, etc).
@BeAware@social.beaware.live It’s because they were basically free and I built a smart home after a big accident in 2019 (I had time on my hands and needed an outlet to heal). Giving voice commands becomes so second nature that I’d try to turn on lights in hotels with my voice.
@BeAware@social.beaware.live I’ve grown to be a never-Google guy. I was all in with Home Minis everywhere, Nest thermostat, Google phones… Then they started to do things like break the Nest & Google Home integration (to make me buy a new one) so I left.
