Damn metaphors getting me excited.

Damn metaphors getting me excited.

People use capitalism to mean anything involving commerce, I guess.
The fact that valve is privately owned and the profits go to the owner instead of the labor isn’t really the reason steam is dominant. A worker owned co-op could have succeeded by making the same product. Though if they were beholden to shareholders who demanded a profit, it probably would have resulted in a worse product. An argument against capitalism, with uninvolved owners taking profits, if anything.
They made a product people like. Boo-boo. Epic could have made a good product. They didn’t.

Oh. Well. Good. Fuck the ultra rich.

You have to pay taxes on unemployment money, at least in New York.

It’s funny when people get mad at poor people for just sitting home collecting handouts, but a rich person who lives on their inherited interest and safe investments is unremarkable
That’s an interesting point I hadn’t considered. Probably not the case with my coworkers who are on a physical keyboard, but maybe my parents

This is saying if you have a module with public functions A and B, they shouldn’t call each other, right? But it’s not saying that module A shouldn’t call module B’s public functions. That’s what I thought it meant at first, but that seems crazy.

Capitalism remains a problem.
I don’t think worker owner businesses would be so rabidly eager to do this AI shit. It’s ghouls and anonymous shareholders. People who don’t even work on the stuff being made.
I’ve found that there’s a weird rift where a surprising amount of people who like board games dislike tabletop RPGs. I think because they’re so open, where board games are more structured and directed.
In the biggest polycule I know, there’s a mix of “likes both”, “doesn’t do RPGs but like board games”, and … I don’t know if anyone likes neither in that crew.
I did poly for a long time and wasn’t that into board games. But yeah a lot of poly people are into them.
I’m more into tabletop RPGs, but never achieved the dream of a polycule party.
Nowadays I wouldn’t even recommend crossing the streams that way.
“knock knock”
“What?”
“Interrupting cow”
“What are yo–”
“MOO”
Hm still works.
Anyway, about memes, there have been illustrations since maybe longer than the written word. You see a picture of the guy using the stairs during a fire instead of an elevator and you don’t go “I don’t know who that guy is I don’t understand”.

Good. Fuck that management. Oust them and give the company to the people who actually do work.

Est-ce que d’accord si je essaie ecrire francais, mais je fais mal? j’ai utilisé ma tete, pas l’ordinateur. Je veux apprendre français

It definitely seems like we’re setting ourselves up for a dystopia, where no one knows how to do software anymore. Like the time machine or Idiocracy. Management just wants short term gains, and they don’t care if there’s no one around in 10 years with any experience

Interesting. For stuff like “what’s the #1 in category?” it’s really “what’s the #2?”, because that’s what people probably guessed a lot of.
How fuzzy is the matching? Like if the answer is Chocolate Chip, how close do I need to be to get credit?
A guy at work got so mad when I asked if some confusing code on a PR he submitted was from his brain, he went directly to my boss to complain.
Fuck you, Sam. I hope your AI lover tells you to mix household cleaners.

Yes. Microsoft is shit. They’re too big and the people making decisions there are too removed from shared reality. Fuck them. Split it up. Give it to the workers. Bury the owners in lead containers with warnings.
Linux is fine.

We gotta put these ICE goons on a list so they can be put on trial.

Sam Altman is a piece of shit and I will celebrate when he fucking dies. I hope he knows. I hope he knows people want him fucking dead. I hope what little scraps of a soul he still has are screaming in despair.
Interesting. Not my preferred input, but maybe now I’ll replay them on the steam deck.
Though they’re both games I think I’ve started a dozen times and only finished once or twice. I like them a lot, but they have their flaws.
I think the dragon fight at the bottom of the first one’s mega-dungeon always pisses me off. It’s more of a numbers game that a tactical challenge, and that’s not fun for me.
