I have listed on my resume & cover letter that I have experience with multiple ai systems, however the creation of my documents are accurate and self-created, not ai-generated.

I want to ensure anyone reading they’re seeing my own work, not some ai BS thrown together to pretend to be impressive. AI was a good recruiting tool for a few months until ai itself ruined it!

While I agree with the better idea of a train, I will play a little devil’s advocate: I hate my job (as do many of us here) and the time it takes away from my personal life and family… my 35-40 minute commute turns into a 15 minute bike ride, plus 45 minute train ride, and then biking the last bit of distance another 10ish minutes. Now, my 1:20 max commute turns into 2 hours, an extra 40 minis away from home a day or 3:20 a week.

Yes, cars are big, expensive, dangerous, etc. But there’s a convenience to having a personal vehicle. So many cities and suburbs are built and designed around cars. I’m not saying this is how it should be, but it’ll take about a 100 years to undo the 120+Yeats of it gradually getting this way.

I’ll end with this thought-and let’s hope to GOD this doesn’t catch on!! Everyone agrees to start walking, biking, and taking public transportation more, and the number of personally owned vehicles drops dramatically. Now, families want to vacation, go camping, go sight seeing, visit family, etc. How do you do that? Take all your stuff down to the local bus stop, then to a train, then back to a bus or taxi to get you the last few miles, all while lugging your stuff along?? What of a family has little kids or a baby? What about in an emergency situation? (Here’s what I hate:) If people decide to rent a car for those occasions, the number of vehicles sold will shift to rental companies vs people, and we’ll see another dramatic shift in additional “rent but never own” “blank as A Service” kind of offerings. Prices to rent will creep just as all other subscriptions do, and soon enough you can’t even afford to visit your dying grandmother because it’ll be to expensive. OK that last bit might be too far dystopian, but I wouldn’t put it passed them (billionaires) to try it!

This would be VERY applicable to several cities, sure, but most big cities don’t house everybody. Chicago gets busy because people commute into the city for work, and I’m sorry but I’m not biking 15-20 miles each way for a job. For those who live downtown or within walking distance, also a great option. The sidewalks are more than accommodating as are many streets. Honestly, it would be cool to convert some of the narrower streets to bike or pedestrian only.

Also, now a huge chunk live in rural America which is definitely not walkable or ridable. But I know outside the city(s), many towns have their own parks or forest preserve type spaces where is nice to exercise there. But when several states are there size of European countries, it puts some of that into perspective. Illinois has numerous “big(ish) cities” separated by 100s of miles. Same goes for Indiana, OH, MO, TN, KY, etc.

As much as it would be awesome to be less dependent, it’s just not viable in most places.

There’s a change.org out there somewhere to ban these from public use. Many States at least have laws in place you can’t record audio/video without proper “all party” consent. I’m sure Meta will buy those politicians and get that changed eventually, but for now it’s law.

Negligible. It runs 24/7, but I’ve got a lot of power running anyway with 4 “servers” and various animals (think reptile heat lights @100w-250w each), using about 1500kWh/month. I have 28x solar panels on the roof so my cost is quite low.

2 of my 4 servers are low power mini PCs, 1 is my old 36-bay SAS I seldom use for testing, my new build is a 24x bay SAS I use for my NAS, arrs stack, and media server.

I don’t know the limit to how many FDIC accounts one is allowed to have open simultaneously, but I know the insured amount of $250k USD per account. I feel like the interest alone in a few accounts would be reasonable enough for the average American to live off of.

Dude, so edgy calling proton slop. I think for what they’re doing, its great to make a full suite of apps to help users ditch Google! So many people won’t jump the Google, Microsoft, or Apple ship until there are direct enough replacements to all the apps they used. Plus, I feel you’re just jumping on the ‘hate proton’ bandwagon from other posts* without providing any real reasoning… Go back to reddit with that sheep brain mentality.

Also, they (Proton) understand there are those who refuse to pay no matter how good services might be, so their targeting businesses also make sense! They have grown enough they can handle scaling for business customers, and they’re paying customers to help keep personal tier stuff free for this who keep it at that. There’s probably not many US companies trying to ditch US tech, but there are certainly a shit ton of EU companies ditching* US tech to either use LibreOffice or others, so it’s a perfect position to offer Docs and Sheets replacements too (which they have).

I don’t know if they’re taking old Google apps and just stripping Google devices out of them or coding from some other FOSS fork, but they’re using a lot of the same naming conventions (maybe to keep simple).

Personally, Proton IS who I push friends and family to because of the privacy focus, it’s a sort of 1-stop shop replacement for everything so it’s far easier to switch. Think about it… 1 account to change to vs many, with support if trouble, and is available in multiple languages, countries, platforms, etc. Why would you not share them with family? Not everybody is obsessed with privacy in the first place, so many are still blind to the data harvesting or just don’t care enough. Proton helps make it more convincing to switch and protect those people. I think it make sense.

Well, I’ve got stuff seeding far more than 30 days, usually the obscure stuff. But also, I seed until my ratio hits 10:1 just cuz I have the bandwidth/capacity, and I know how hard it is sometimes to get a decent DL.
