Hmm, seems that nobody has yet mentioned Grayjay.
One marketable advantage is that the sources there are deployed as plugins, instead of being precompiled into the app (like newpipe). That mainly means that if a streaming platform breaks the apps, an update is pushed faster, and you don’t have to update the whole app to get that either.
The youtube source has sponsorblock integration, and allows you to login to bypass bot checks if you get fragged too much (not required).
And yes, sources, it’s not only for youtube, but also a couple of other streaming services, togglable, again, as plugins. There is a peertube plugin also, but my concern is that i don’t see a way to change the instance URL in it’s settings, which does seem to matter since there’s login functionality (why bother? for example to avoid defederation walls of the main instance perhaps? i dunno)
There’s also an interesting feature with serverless sync of your playlists and history, should you want that, and not any less interesting integration with a closely related Polycentric project - essentially off-platform comment feed for all videos. But that’s more bells and whistles

Since Poco F1 is made by Xiaomi, shouldn’t it need unlocking with their not only hard-to-find, but also a half-working program which requires, and i am resorting to bullet points for emphasis:
a cloud account with your phone number linked
simcard of said number inserted (and i guess also mobile data active but not sure)
turning sync of sms and contacts and find my device on, probably not very wished of if you consider where that information ends up
a waiting period sometimes reaching almost a month
successful operation of Xiaomi’s servers which you have no influence on their operation of during said waiting period
keeping simcard and sync features enabled during said period to allow the device to heartbeat xiaomi’s servers to not reset the period
which with latest phones doesn’t even seem to be planned to be working in the future, with the arrival of “HyperOS”?
i am aware that some very old devices have a 0 waiting period, but not sure with this device?
with personal experience, if you buy them refurbished (in my case that was a redmi note 10 pro) unlocking the bootloader just doesn’t seem to even be possible (the motherboard was likely replaced, but not registered on xiaomis end). i mean, personal anecdotal experience, but shows the fragility and risk of the systen they set up, so that it just doesn’t seem to ve worth buying them anymore…

the system was made in a way where proprietary was the secure way to get more money… so we we kind of need to stick to older tech until the next open implementation people can fully control is out or we get routers you can’t even do basic settings a 2015 openwrt router just lets you change (read:screwed)… that’s the price. price for freedom… idk not a scalie havent played that game
iam with you my frien

if i get it in windows 11 i need to call bill gates to change taskbar position? (legally)
oh gosh what if it is a stripped reskin of plasma for real and we just can’t know because its proprietary
