The worst U.S. Midwest drought since 2012 expanded over the past week despite mild temperatures as a lack of rain across the heart of the American farm belt threatened newly seeded corn and soybean crops, climatologists said in a weekly report.
Corn is still looking very healthy. Grass in yards is mostly brown. We do need rain in the coming weeks or farmers will have to start irrigation. For those that don’t have the equipment in their fields, they will face low yield.
This isn’t necessarily a bad thing as it means a higher price for their crops. Frito lay stock will take a hit 🤷♀️ We need to change what and how we’re farming here anyway. More food variety in greenhouses so we don’t have to rely on drought prone areas in the southwest and Mexico.
