Can someone tell me why an Android launcher should have Internet access…? Been on the hunt for a new launcher but am not installing software which I fail to see having to use the net to operate…just like keyboards…another one that has me scratch my head
For launchers
Extra features, weather and news feeds have been mentioned before. Some launchers let you search the web directly from their search bar and to provide search suggestions they need internet access.
NeoLauncher for example puts the feed reader in a separate app (neofeed) so it isn’t a hard requirement for that, but makes the launcher simpler.
And for keyboards there are all sorts of reasons to use an internet connection, to update the dictionary or autocomplete and word suggestions lists, to install new lists. GIF pickers need an internet connection and some translation tools are also done this way.
