It’s a low-friction way to chat with other privacy-focused people. The alternative is something like Matrix which less people are going to use. That’s the push and pull of trying to be 100% private vs. spreading privacy knowledge to more people.
Matrix gets a big thumbs up from me. We’re using it for the Kbin dev chats and it’s super handy, reminds me of discord which is a nice plus since that’s a UI most people can use intuitively

Yeah… matrix is great, it’s just not a a lot of people use it. Anytime I log in most of the rooms are dead.
