Every book collection reflects its owner’s personality. A unique mix of gothic novels, engineering manuals, romantic poetry and cookbooks are like strands of DNA. Just as people change, book collections also evolve.

That’s a moronic take if I ever saw one.
- luciole (he/him) ( @luciole@beehaw.org ) 23•11 months ago
The title is in reference to some random John Waters quote and has very little to do with the post itself. A more apt title would be “I Got My Apartment Renovated: Intellectual Masturbation by The Bookshelves”.

The other commenters won’t know this, because they don’t read or get laid.

“looks at bookshelf of completely unread books.” Oh… Yeah I love books!
- lyam23 ( @lyam23@beehaw.org ) 3•11 months ago
I know you’re joking but it’s absolutely possible to love books even when most may be unread. Umberto Eco sings the praises of the so-called “anti-library” here: https://www.themarginalian.org/2015/03/24/umberto-eco-antilibrary/

- Faresh ( @Faresh@lemmy.ml ) English11•11 months ago
Does an ereader count?
- Ethereal87 ( @Ethereal87@beehaw.org ) English8•11 months ago
Sexting only in that case!
- pearsaltchocolatebar ( @pearsaltchocolatebar@discuss.online ) 4•11 months ago
Yeah, I gave all of my physical books to the library and have like 1k books on my Kindle.
I don’t know, but that’s a good question 😅
- ArcaneSlime ( @ArcaneSlime@lemmy.dbzer0.com ) 10•11 months ago
Yeah! Fuck e-book and audiobook users!
- survivalmachine ( @survivalmachine@beehaw.org ) 6•11 months ago
Did you read the article? It says not to do that!
- memfree ( @memfree@beehaw.org ) English5•11 months ago
I give books away, so I’m out.
- ursakhiin ( @ursakhiin@beehaw.org ) 5•11 months ago
I had a near visceral reaction reading that article when he suggested refusing people asking if they can borrow a book.
What’s the point of having a library if you aren’t going to share?
- ramble81 ( @ramble81@lemm.ee ) 3•11 months ago
I use books for a decoration
- FiveMacs ( @Fiivemacs@lemmy.ca ) 2•11 months ago
