(this is a shitpost and shouldn’t be taken seriously)
velox_vulnus ( @velox_vulnus@lemmy.ml ) English21•4 months agoToilet paper vs bidet is also political. Bidets are superior and liberate you from the oppression of capitalist toilet paper monopoly. Also saves trees, and vegan-friendly.
Turun ( @Turun@feddit.de ) 8•4 months agoI read that as “toilet paper vs Biden is also political” and did not even consider it weird, because I don’t expect respectful political discussions on Lemmy anymore.
boredtortoise ( @boredtortoise@lemm.ee ) 2•4 months agoTrue. Not using a bidet = not true communist/socialist/anti-capitalist/leftist.
verbalbotanics ( @verbalbotanics@beehaw.org ) 1•4 months agoWould a true Scotsman use a bidet though?
Neato ( @Neato@ttrpg.network ) English13•4 months agoThe people who don’t want to talk about politics to today degree are the ones benefitting from the status quo or are so privileged or doesn’t affect them.
or maybe we acknowledge these issues and browse lemmy for entertainment and getting away from the stresses of daily life rather than be constantly reminded of it and roped into repetitive discussions that are preaching to the choir
err, what I meant was we need to burn down the system
NotNotMike ( @notnotmike@programming.dev ) 12•4 months agoI feel this. While I am not overly fond of capitalism or the United States government, most of the memes criticizing them are so un-funny they hurt. They weren’t made because the OP had a funny idea for a meme, but because they wanted to insult the U.S. or capitalism and had to find some joke to do it. They feels so forced.
I think we as a community can balance making a political point with being actually funny at least a little better than we do
arymandias ( @arymandias@feddit.de ) 5•4 months agoCan we not make everything on Lemmy about political memes?

Prunebutt ( @Prunebutt@slrpnk.net ) 2•4 months agoI would leave capitalism alone if its’ consequences wouldn’t influence every single sober moment of my life.
