jh29a ( @jh29a@lemmy.blahaj.zone ) 7•11 months agois an administrator someone who administers something?
I’ve heard that on Microsoft OS the root user is named Administrator (and on some BSD OS root is called Charlie!), so yes.
PeriodicallyPedantic ( @PeriodicallyPedantic@lemmy.ca ) 1•11 months agoGonna administer this yiffing
Amputret ( @Amputret@lemmy.dbzer0.com ) 1•11 months agoI don’t think I get it? 😔
darvit ( @darvit@lemmy.darvit.nl ) 12•11 months agoFurries run a lot of core internet IT: https://thespinoff.co.nz/internet/11-01-2022/who-runs-the-internet-furries
Amputret ( @Amputret@lemmy.dbzer0.com ) 3•11 months agoOh, of course! I think I was trying to overthink it.
No worries. When I saw the image on Mastodon I thought I did not get it but still looks funny.
- “RunAs” is apparently the Windows equivalence of sudo in Linux.
- Administrator in Windows == root in Linux.
- Furries are popular among some users on the Fediverse, for reasons.
voxel ( @vox@sopuli.xyz ) 1•11 months agoadministrator in windows != root, it’s more like user account in sudoers file (but without password auth) processes don’t start out with admin rights under administrator accounts on windows, they still need to request the user to elevate (unless uac is off)
