I’m looking for a way to have a private method for Tap to Pay on GrapheneOS. Ideally I would like compatibility with privacy.com, and if possible have the option for Monero. I don’t mind going through an exhaustive setup process. What are my options?
Edit: The point of this is not for convenience, I am trying to avoid using my standard credit/debit card to provide privacy against my bank by using privacy.com or Monero when cash is unavailable.

Take a bank card with an NFC chip and put it inside your phone case.

Lol I paid extra $60 for NFC. Only if I knew this trick I could have used that money to buy inflatable sex doll.

See? No need to thank me. ;)

I love this solution but my main card is Amex which means I always have to carry a second card 💀

Tap to pay is not supported on GOS due to a google certification issue, i.e. GOS can’t in good faith spoof the google signing keys like some other ROMs do (because google could break it at any time)

NFC payments ARE supported by Graphene. Gpay is not, due to google not supporting it. If your bank app, has the option and no reliance to gpay you will be able to pay with your phone.
IIRC the project has a page with the ones that do work.

Why cant they get officially approved by google? Is it purely monopoly maintenance? Surly the eu will mark them as gatekeepers?

Your option is having a financial institution that provides tap to pay on their own app. Otherwise you will have to start carrying cards again.
Edit:
You might want to check this thread on the official forums which has the discussions regarding NFC payments.
I have seen people recommending the usage of a smart watch such as Garmin which has their own Pay application. You can check their compatibility list here. I didn’t have any luck because they support like 5 cards in Canada.

Yeah, it doesn’t support Nationwide in the UK either, so no go for me too. Maybe there should be a standard, open protocol for connecting to bank cards to pay, so each company doesn’t have to separately approach every bank?

Other than Google pay or getting a card from a bank that offers that in their mobile app there isn’t a way afaik

GPay doesn’t work on GrapheneOS IIRC.

Apparently you can make it work, not that I would

For nfc payments? I have seen people making it work for boarding passes and fidelity cards but not for that

FYI, for stuff like this you can just use Catima

Yes, I love Catima!
