The age of the west preying on the rest of the world to subsidize their lavish lifestyle is over.

This seems more accurate.

Seriously. Utopia? Peak Western centrism, things have been terrible for the global South since colonialism began, and it’s only been slowly but surely improving because the West is actively imploding.
Even in the West, Indigenous people and people of colour are still very much getting the business end handed to them. It was only ever a utopia for white people.

Utopia has always been just wishful thinking and will always be.

The main problem with utopias is that a fundamental requirement is that they be the perfect manifestation of an ideal. But humans have many different ideals which often cannot entirely coexist at a utopian level. Competing ideals must compromise, thus destroying the utopia. The best you can ever get is a society that deals with its diversity well instead of melting into chaos or oppression.
That said, history is full of people who put aside self-interest and preconceptions to try to move society forward. The first person that springs to mind is Florence Nightingale, founder of modern nursing. Her work establishing things like sanitation standards has saved untold millions of lives over the years.

There never was a utopia. There never will me. Humans are so flawed, greedy, and hateful that we will never have anything close to a utopia.

Depend. If you think of utopian theories, it will never end, at least until idealist philosophy would completely disappear, new ones will be still formulated. If you think about realising utopias, just from the very definition it never was and never will be realised.
