The A3-001 is from Saab, not Subaru.
Wooo boy does this need to be top comment.
Good catch.
Grok translation everyone, as reliable as Elon Musk’s stock valuations.
EDIT:
https://www.jwing.net/news/112102
Pretty sure this is the actual source.
Current article title:
サーブ、次世代無人戦闘機コンセプト「A3-001」を公開
So uh, サーブ is a transliteration of Saab. (Sa-- Bu), basically.
But, the original headline, in the image, has… kanji…
[kou - shiki], I think? Which would… contextually be… ‘official announcement’, basically?
Ah, the header in the image is the description of jwing, the news outlet, not the article title.
Well, I’d thought it might be possible that the actual company name in the headline could have been erroneous, initially, and then updated, but now I realize we can’t see it, so, not sure.
Oh well, learned some kanji, wheeee!
It’s a “fighter”? Are we imagining drones dogfighting? What’s it’s main target?
probably brown people in west asia
CCAs or collaborative combat aircraft are the new hotness in military aviation. Basically smaller unmanned fighter jets that work alongside a traditional manned fighter. The idea is that you can have maybe 4 or 5 fighter jets worth of capability but only one of them has a human pilot on board. So the manned fighter can hang back and tell a farther forward one to fire a missile. Is it a wunderwaffen? Is it a boondoggle? Idk man
Which one get’s to carry the spool of fibre optic?
Alive things
nah, you’re right, it’s clearly delivering medical supplies.
A lot of companies in Japan have a heavy industries branch or similar. Yamaha has all kinds of verticals as they’re happy to sell you a piano or a motorcycle (or both!)
Major Japanese companies have insane levels of diversification
It’s not so much diversification, but the fact that many of them were zaibatsu, the only ones able to do anything other than farming. They just had a huuuuge head start.
Mitsubishi and it’s offshoots has made everything at one point or another. Paper, drugs, TVs, cars, tanks, planes, submarines…
wind turbines, too.
The term for it is ‘conglomerate’
Subaru used to be a part of Fuji Heavy Industries, who actually started out making aircraft. They’ve since been renamed to simply “Subaru Corporation”, apparently.
Hitachi is the best example
the advantage of drones is their low price, not the fact fhat they are unmanned
