This episode hurt to watch. I watched it all the way through, but he really regressed a lot and imploded into a black hole of misery. A real “worst timeline” kind of episode. It highlights how fragile his psyche still is, that losing a single person in tragedy can make him push away everyone else like that.

Makes me wonder if this is actually the second attempt at betrayal by Man God…? Rudy already disobeyed instructions last time with the “don’t go save your mum” thing. MG claims that his dad would have found a way to save his mentor and mum without dying but is that really true…? It seems highly unlikely; Rudy played a critical role in that segment. The scenario where he successfully and happily marries the beast girls also seems really dubious.

My money is on his father would have failed, everyone in the party dying including Grandma, which then leads to an emotional black hole, regret, shunning Sylphie, etc… just like the bad timeline shown here. The rat was just backup plan #1. I wonder how many other backup plans Man God has up his sleeve? Rudy won’t get another paradox warning, I think.

I wish I’d waited a bit longer to catch up so I could watch the next episode as a palette cleanser. I’m gonna be all moody for a while now.

The worst thing in all this is that Rudeus did a lot of this to himself. Sure, man-god killed Roxy, but such a thing could have happened anyway, without anyone plotting to kill her. Accidents happen, people die all the time, especially in times like these. It was all Rudy’s fault for not being there for his family when they needed him, not trying to get out of the rut when they reached to him. Instead he shut everyone out, like he did in his previous life, and pushed Eris away too, instead of listening to what she has to say. I mean, sure, her approaches with fists were dumb, but that’s the main theme of this series, that everyone is flawed, and Eris is a dumbass and doesn’t know how to express herself. At some point Rudy could have tried to figure out why she keeps following him, instead of ridiculing her for years. He promised himself not to waste his second chance at life, yet that’s exactly what he did. It’s like man-god said, Rudy had the seeds of that in him all along.

That said, it probably wasn’t the first time man-god fucked someone over like that. Given the resemblance of how adult Rudy behaves to how Orsted acts in Turning Point 2, man-god must have done something to him too. We’ve seen Orsted as the villain for so long, but now it kinda makes sense why he was the way he was.

Anyway, noped out after the first 1.5 mins. This is clearly the POV of alternate-timeline Rudeus, and it’s going to be tragic, ain’t it?

Imma watch this episode with the last episode - which should end on a happier note, hopefully.

Not gonna lie… I did not like an entire episode on the alter Rudeus. Felt like too much time spent on what we already know happened.

At least we had some insight on all the worlds and where man god is, and Rudy developing time travel
