I’ve finally finished school and have passed all my exams, so finally I can live a life unshackled from scholarly duties. Which means that I have more time to shitpost (you’re welcome 😘)
My weekend is pretty busy, so I probably won’t be playing too much. If I do, I’ll probably rotate between Monster Hunter Rise and Monster Hunter Freedom Unite via PPSSPP again :)
I’m not sure I’ve had fights like this, actually. Most of the bosses I’ve encountered I’ve either seen before in videos and had not made up an opinion on, or they were new to me, so I went in with an open mind. Maybe the two Gundyrs in DS3? Both were made out to be a lot harder than they actually were in the end, but for someone new to soulslikes they likely pose more of a challenge.
Most of the Bloodborne bosses are pretty easy once you figure out what to parry. Legitimately the only ones that were trouble for me were Logarius and Moon Presence, and Moon Presence only because it was after Gehrman.
I killed malenia on my second try, basically first try (used clone on the first try when she’s at lunge distance, that shit costs life, she oneshotted me. It wasn’t a fight really.) via me and my clone spamming the rot breath on release. Cheesy as fuck cuz of clone with infinite mana spamming the best clone spell but yeah she died fast. Oh, I also got the bug where if she’s rotted or being rotted or whatever when the transition happens she spawns with 10% life. So I cheesed her and she got bugged. Lmao.
Then I killed her tons of times with the 100% block shield before it got nerfed, then added the spell before they needed that too.
Anyway point is bosses are easy if you strategize. 🙃
You didn’t aktually beat her if you didn’t beat her naked with only the starter weapon on so summon. -someone out there
My response to those usually is: cool, bye.
They complain that souls games shouldn’t have difficulty sliders because the Devs designed the experience purposefully, but the they cry when we create our ingame difficulty sliders using the tools that the Devs provided purposefully. Don’t give energy to hypocrites.
I cleared inner isshin without getting damaged in Sekiro , so I thought I’d play a charmless run. Then I died like 10 times to the chained ogre. So maybe more sekiro.
Charmless + Demon Bell is definitely a challenge
I’ve always found it funny that you don’t need it for the platinum achievement.
The game gets also better when you play without the charm imo.
It does since the timings need to be that much tighter. And it’s good that it’s not needed imo. It is more difficult and you shouldn’t be forced to engage with it if you want the platinum. I probably would not have minded it back then tho
Picked up an old DS2 file yesterday. Last played 5 years ago when the servers went down.
Mid iron keep dlc, full caster, dragon knight armor.
Fume Knight was a bitch.
Congratulations on passing your exams!
Elden Ring is one of the games I’ve been playing to try to get used to my Steam Controller, so I might hop in for more of that if I can find some time. I’m trying something new and swapping between the whip and… Reduvia? The bleed dagger you get from an invader. I kinda hate them both, every previous playthrough has been with a big, heavy, slow weapon. I don’t know off the top of my head what kind of build I need for that pizza cutter thing, but maybe I’ll start heading that way. I’m really early so I could just restart if I need to I guess.
@Druid congrats!
(And I await more shitposts ;))
What comes to mind is Fire Giant in Elden Ring. Not on my first playthrough since I was not spoiled on him (and he was quite easy). But on my first RL1 playthrough I had a reaction like this, since I heard from many places that Fire Giant is supposed to be such a big roadblock for such a run. I beat him in about 5 tries? He was quite easy. On my second RL1 playthrough I even beat him on my first try.
I am currently playing my second randomizer in Elden Ring. After having had an enormous amount of fun with my first randomizer playthrough, I’ve now added another restriction: not with the randomizer software, but I combined it with my favorite challenge run: I’m playing at Rune Level 1! This is either going to go great or end in disaster. (With my luck I’m half expecting Consort Phase 2 in Golden Godfrey’s arena).
Hmm yea I can see Fire Giant being a hurdle. I was quite intimidated by his size too the first time I saw him (pun intended) but ultimately he wasn’t suuper difficult. What’s the difficulty for rl1 supposed to be specifically?
💀 anything in Pissfrey’s little arena that’s bigger than him is probably a challenge, damn
At RL1 (almost) every little twitch from Fire Giant can one shot you and he has a truly staggering health pool of 43,263 HP (for comparison Morgott has 10,399 HP). Phase 2 is particularly dangerous since the fire attacks are so far reaching.
But he has giant – pun intended – attack opportunities in phase 1 and you can set up a stagger for the opener of phase 2 and then kill him right then and there or he has just a sliver of HP left.
It also heavily depends on the weapon choice for this fight: Star Fists – my favorite – absolutely wrecks him. Alabaster Lord’s Sword is supposed to be even better.
Hey congrats :) Enjoy all that free time 😜

More Elden Ring. Got back into it for like no reason. Yet to buy the DLC I’m hoping it goes on sale in the autumn sale.
The 1.17 update fucked me tho cause I play with mods and suddenly the game goes “uh oh your save file is corrupted “. It’s all fixed now thank god.
