Late thread but I’m not gone!
What are you playing? I finished Castlevania! Pretty solid, I liked some of the things they were doing with the tarot cards and clues. Some cool moments there but it could have been fleshed out more.
Kind stuck on what to play on now. I started up Titanium Court which I’m loving but it’s coming out on mobile on Thursday and that might be a more fun place for me to play it
I don’t get much time to play anymore, but when I make time I’m mostly bouncing between two games.
On my Steam Deck I’ve been slowly working my way through Cult of the Lamb. I like that it combines a base builder with a roguelite hack and slash thing, swapping back and forth between the two halves of the game keeps it pretty fresh.
On my PC I’ve basically only been playing Forza Horizon 6. I like a good racing game, and the less time that I have for gaming the more I find myself drifting towards the slightly less hardcore titles like FH6. Took a little while to get used to the handling changes compared to Forza Motorsport, but overall it’s relatively solid.
If anyone has good recommendations for games that are fun and run well on Steam Deck let me know! Indie games are generally more up my alley than big AAAs. I once tried modded Minecraft because I heard you can get it running on Steam Deck but it was a bit depressing to try and play with horrible load times and the usual issue of trying to use a controller for a game that clearly isn’t designed for one haha
I beat Titanium Court quite recently - can highly recommend, a great game for multiple reasons which I won’t spoil.
I’m also in the late game of Control: Resonant. Loving the game, though missing a bit of that Sam Lake weirdness in there. It’s just a well made solid game in Control universe, but it almost doesn’t feel like a Remedy game in a way. Still, highly recommend it (it’s out on GOG now too, btw)
Finished the final boss of Grime last week, trying to get the areas I missed before. Not sure I’ll finish everything though, there’s just way too much platforming in the end game 🤣 plus I already missed one of the endings.
Haven’t figured out what to play next, but since I have about 50 unplayed games in my library, I’m sure I’ll manage something.
I’m still working on my NextFest report, which I may or may not be posting, but that’s pretty much what I’ve been spending the past week on. Dozens of dozens of demos, and between actually playing them then spending three times that amount of time sifting through the slop of AI vomit NextFest has sadly become.
But more importantly @chloyster@beehaw.org I’m so stoked you’re playing Titanium Court! I’ve been campaigning for it since it’s release but haven’t had much traction unfortunately. So far it’s my Game of the Year, I found it absolutely delightful (in more than one way). Don’t want to risk spoiling anything by saying more than that, though. I hope you’ll have a blast with it. (And yes, it’s probably a perfect game to play on your phone, too!).
I’ve been loving it so far! Definitely think I’ve only scratched the surface. I find the writing hilarious but also there’s just something about the low tide music combined with watching everything play out that is so fun and satisfying
I can’t wait for your thoughts once you’re finished! I have already typed and deleted several replies to this, but I really don’t want to spoil anything, so I guess they’ll stay deleted. But I do agree that the writing is hilarious, and it’s actually quite rare to find a game that is genuinely funny and clever like this, I think. And the mechanics are great and so clever, especially with all the little twists and variations on them through the game.
Been playing Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown on my Switch and Splinter Cell on my PC. Just finished the main story of the former and started with the latter. It has been fun playing Splinter Cell with all kinds of modernizing mods, such as EnhancedSC and ReShade shaders and ray tracing. With all the graphical mods my GPU use (GTX 1070) is at ~80%.
Both of these games make me wish Ubisoft wasn’t its head so deep in sand.
