Oh thank you benevolent tax man for the equivalent of 8 hours on minimum wage. We’ll all make it through the winter now, thanks to m’lord’s kindness!

(This gif is from 2009. £103 now is the equivalent of £61.86 then. Just to drive home how hopelessly pathetic Healey’s help is.)

I mean I’m not going to turn down free money but it’s not exactly a stimulus check. I spend more on that on food in a month.

It’s the amount the average energy bill is going to increase by between January and April. It’s not supposed to solve problems now, it’s for that specific problem coming in January.

They’re hoping energy prices will drop by April.

Maybe a combination of getting used to not spending money and things being increasingly shit, but I don’t know what I would want to bother spending this on.

Even when I was earning £600 a month on apprentice wages in the late 2010s I don’t think this would have meaningfully changed my life.

More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think “reputable news source” needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
