it’s very much borrowed from one of the reddit subs i frequent(ed) often, but the idea is to share what we’re playing weekly and hopefully create discussions around those games (or simply have a sort of “check-in”).
sexy_peach ( @sexy_peach@feddit.de ) English13•2 years agoFactorio as always ^^
i’ve got a few friends who are addicted to this one, haha. it’s not for me, but it does look very interesting!
The_Hunted_One ( @The_Hunted_One@beehaw.org ) English4•2 years agoDo you play with mods? If so, which do you recommend? I think the last one I played was krastorio 2, which devoured a bunch of my free time
sexy_peach ( @sexy_peach@feddit.de ) English2•2 years agoDepends on my mood, I do both. My favorite mod is krastorio 2, with the mods that the k2 people recommend along it. (Alien biomes etc).
I haven’t made it very far into space exploration, maybe it was too difficult for me or I didn’t like the balancing? I will try it again in the future.
I finished warptorio 2, it’s very cool, but you need a bit of Factorio experience for it I think. Also you need to warp manually all the time because it sends so many biters otherwise.
Also I made a bunch of videos of me playing vanilla Factorio recently: https://diode.zone/w/p/36k4bJzMFNJUro9sFcG3dX
I will have to keep playing that save ^^
Gork ( @Gork@beehaw.org ) English2•2 years agoIf you’ve tried Satisfactory, how would you compare it to Factorio? I’ve found it to be a little easier to play in multiplayer, even if it isn’t as deep from an automation standpoint (but it’s still pretty deep).
NoxiousPluK ( @NoxiousPluK@lemmy.blahaj.zone ) English2•2 years agoSatisfactory is enjoyable, but I missed the same challenge that I had in Factorio. The complexity and fight against the biters is quite something. Still, Satisfactory is very… satisfactory to move around in and great with friends as well. More chill I think.
sexy_peach ( @sexy_peach@feddit.de ) English2•2 years agoI have played Satisfactory, I started with it when I didn’t even know about Factorio.
They’re very different games, especially after you get robots in Factorio. You don’t place buildings by hand anymore, but mostly blueprints etc. Setups should be able to scale. I have never built rail in Satisfactory, but I think they’re different too.
I enjoyed Satisfactory so much, but once I had seen it all it was quite dull and pointless for me. It’s not the same with Factorio, it’s so satisfying to do it all again, but with more knowledge of the game.
Gork ( @Gork@beehaw.org ) English3•2 years agoI enjoy the ability to just layer your factory higher and higher. One layer is my power generation level, base layer is just iron smithing and processing, and more complex machinery higher up. Still makes a lot of spaghetti the way I make it lol 🍝
sexy_peach ( @sexy_peach@feddit.de ) English2•2 years agoSatisfactory is awesome, maybe I should start a new save :)
JadziaMostral ( @JadziaMostral@beehaw.org ) English12•2 years agoCan’t seem to stop playing factorio, send help.
The factory must expand.
The factory must expand.
The factory must expand.
strudel6242 ( @strudel6242@beehaw.org ) English4•2 years agoYou still on vanilla, or have you started diving into Greg’s mods?
JadziaMostral ( @JadziaMostral@beehaw.org ) English2•2 years agoStill vanilla. I’ve only just started using logistic bots properly, converting the factory from centralised to modular production. I’ll give mods a try sometime soon but there’s so much possibility for expansion in the base game, who knows how long it’ll take.
SoaringFox ( @SoaringFox@beehaw.org ) English3•2 years agoUgh I know the day I start Factorio is the day my life as I know it ends… not sure if I’m dreading it or looking forward to it
NoxiousPluK ( @NoxiousPluK@lemmy.blahaj.zone ) English3•2 years agoAt 1600 hours I’m just a beginner, but this game is so great.
JadziaMostral ( @JadziaMostral@beehaw.org ) English3•2 years ago<insert rookie numbers meme here>
dirtmayor ( @dirtmayor@beehaw.org ) English3•2 years agomore like cracktorio
JadziaMostral ( @JadziaMostral@beehaw.org ) English3•2 years agoY’all got any more of that throughput?
Gork ( @Gork@beehaw.org ) English3•2 years agoI installed the Space Exploration and Krastorio 2 mods and I haven’t even gotten to space yet on my year old save lol. It’s like Factorio x3 in difficulty.
JadziaMostral ( @JadziaMostral@beehaw.org ) English2•2 years agoSpace exp seems pretty amazing. Before factorio I was mostly pouring time into dyson sphere program, it’s strangely similar.
ryuko ( @ryuko@lemmy.ml ) English11•2 years agoTears of the Kingdom, and when I get burnt out, either Persona 5 or Hitman III.
nadiaraven ( @nadiaraven@beehaw.org ) English7•2 years agoI’ve been playing TotK like it’s my second job since day 1, and I still don’t feel close to maxing out on its content. Breath of the Wild was my favorite game of all time, and somehow Tears of the Kingdom is even better.
TechnicolorRex ( @TechnicolorRex@beehaw.org ) English4•2 years agoSame here.
My 7 year old loves watching the gameplay as well. So when we need a break from this heat wave she tells me she wants to watch zelda. Been a ton of fun with her.So when shes around it’s main quest mostly. I would be ostracized if I did a temple without her.
When it’s just me I work on grinding out shrines or lightroots or armor upgrades usually.
Hades! It’s such a fun and addicting game. I am trying to 100% the game, so I have made a couple hundred escape attempts with no escapes as of yet.
Scrubbles ( @scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech ) English11•2 years agoI’m hundreds of hours into my Satisfactory factory. Working on bringing my final power plant online this weekend!
Working in the swamp, late at night
Just wouldn’t be a power plant without eerie green
sexy_peach ( @sexy_peach@feddit.de ) English5•2 years agoDamn, my factory sucks ass next to this ^^
Scrubbles ( @scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech ) English7•2 years agoHumble beginnings my friend, we all started hand crafting iron rods and plates. This factory is my third, and this is about 400 hours in. At this stage you’re at the stage of “I enjoy this, right? I’m doing this for fun, right?”
sexy_peach ( @sexy_peach@feddit.de ) English3•2 years agoI played up to the highest unlock, then didn’t finish the last elevator because there was no unlock to get ^^
Still, I never cared about what my factory looked like. Maybe that’s the problem.
Scrubbles ( @scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech ) English2•2 years agoThere’s no problem at all lol, that’s one of the things I love, there’s no “right” or “wrong” way to play at all. We play because we must produce, the only way to play wrong is if you are not at peak efficiency.
And there’s totally an unlock! A small surprise at the awesome shop!
acowley ( @acowley@beehaw.org ) 8•2 years agoTears of the Kingdom with my son! He is Mr. Random Adventure, while I tend to steer us to objectives. It’s a good combo.
that sounds like a lot of fun!
Takeshidude ( @Takeshidude@beehaw.org ) 8•2 years agoI got Tears of the Kingdom for my birthday, so I’ve been enjoying that this week. I’m thinking about picking up Ozymandius on steam at some point for a nice 4X-Lite game.
pushka ( @pushka@beehaw.org ) 4•2 years agoZelda-tears for me - it’s been out for 21 days and I’ve played for 70 hours @__@ but I feel like I haven’t really gotten far through the whole game, and I want it to last forever, it’s the best <3
Takeshidude ( @Takeshidude@beehaw.org ) 3•2 years agoI’m really enjoying it! Unfortunately, I’m back at work on Monday, so I’m not sure how much more I’ll get to play for a while.
Drew ( @crmsnbleyd@sopuli.xyz ) English8•2 years agoTears of the kingdom, hehe. Might just play some splatoon 3.
ado ( @ado@beehaw.org ) 8•2 years agoSystem Shock! Felt like it’s been coming out forever and then suddenly just dropped. Amazing so far
Is it good to play casually? Very interested, but I hear there is a ton of back-tracking and it is faithful to the original a little too much?
ado ( @ado@beehaw.org ) 2•2 years agoI really enjoy it, but I love these types of games. There is backtracking when you’re obtaining items and unlocking doors and stuff, very similar to Prey. There’s a demo on steam to check out! Faithful to the original but in the right ways imo
StanTheMan ( @StanTheMan@beehaw.org ) English3•2 years agoBeen thinking about picking up System Shock! Never played the originals but I can’t say no to a good immersive sim.
ado ( @ado@beehaw.org ) English3•2 years agoThere’s a demo on steam! Idk how long it is but worth checking out
followthewhiterabbit ( @followthewhiterabbit@beehaw.org ) English8•2 years agoI just got my Steam Deck and have loved playing through BoTW via CEMU with mods (playing as Linkle!)
Right now I am trying to get modded Skyrim going on my 64gb Steam Deck, since I haven’t played before and love fantasy settings!
jjsearle ( @jjsearle@lemmy.ml ) English2•2 years agoInstall a 1TB SSD in there, and fill it with mods. It’s pretty easy to upgrade yourself.
followthewhiterabbit ( @followthewhiterabbit@beehaw.org ) English2•2 years agoOh when I can pick one up, I will!
But for now, the 64gb with a few hefty microSD’s is what I will be using
Jeft ( @Jeft@beehaw.org ) English2•2 years agoI still remember begging my parents to buy me Skyrim for the Xbox 360 during the launch of the game! That was almost 12 years ago! Oh my! I also remember watching this guy called Utorak and having his own rendition of the trailer.
TheTrueLinuxDev ( @TheTrueLinuxDev@beehaw.org ) 8•2 years agoOctopath Traveler 2, pretty challenging when getting to the later portion of the game.
wintrparkgrl ( @wintrparkgrl@beehaw.org ) English7•2 years agoTears of the Kingdom, spending hours just making random stuff
JC Denton ( @JCDenton@beehaw.org ) 7•2 years agoJust finished Dusk yesterday and almost done with the first Sacred game. I’ve always liked it more than Diablo.
Shrek ( @psysok@lemmy.ml ) English7•2 years agoI have been playing Tears of the Kingdom, but when my wife has been playing I have been switching in between Serious Sam 4 and the original Commander Keen.
Commander Keen takes a little to get used to the game feel and style, but I am actually enjoying it pretty well. You can feel a lot of what would go into id shooters. Mazelike levels with a series of key cards, but on a 2d platformer instead of a fps.
SturgiesYrFase ( @SturgiesYrFase@lemmy.ml ) English5•2 years agoOh man, Commander Keen! One of the first games I actually owned.
I’ve been playing a bit of TotK, and also recently pulled out my GB pocket and started playing my old copy of Pokemon Red.
Shrek ( @psysok@lemmy.ml ) English2•2 years agoI never owned commander keen until recently. So I would just play that shareware episode back in the day.
SturgiesYrFase ( @SturgiesYrFase@lemmy.ml ) English3•2 years agoI got the shareware version from my cousin, it was all I played for months, got the full version for my birthday!
thoverlord ( @thoverlord@beehaw.org ) 7•2 years agoI just picked up Horizon Zero Dawn on sale on steam . Only ever seen clips of it and it looks fun .
Butterbee (She/Her) ( @Butterbee@beehaw.org ) 3•2 years agoI loved that game so much! I hope you vibe with it!
thoverlord ( @thoverlord@beehaw.org ) 2•2 years agoThanks !
