const_void ( @const_void@lemmy.ml ) 35•2 years agoInfinity is great. Really hoping the dev refractors it for Lemmy.
fernandu00 ( @fernandu00@lemmy.ml ) 35•2 years agoI love infinity! Easy to use and it doesn’t push notifications all day to you check reddit all the time
animist ( @animist@lemmy.one ) 18•2 years agoInfinity is the only reason I had gone back to reddit. Not being able to use it is what initially drove me to the fediverse
fernandu00 ( @fernandu00@lemmy.ml ) 7•2 years agoMe too! And I like the decentralization thing
animist ( @animist@lemmy.one ) 8•2 years agoOh yeah I came for the “reddit alternative” and stayed for the decentralization
gun/linux ( @original_ish_name@lemmy.ml ) 28•2 years agoI was surprised when I didn’t see anyone talk about infinity
SaltyIceteaMaker ( @SaltyIceteaMaker@lemmy.ml ) 27•2 years agoI used infinity.
but i think almost anyone here uses/used an open source client no? Thats like a predestined path
twei ( @twei@feddit.de ) 11•2 years agoI love the infinity client and I already miss the “swipe to upvote”-feature on jerboa
It’s more likely, probably. On Reddit it really seems to be a forgotten child aside of the fossdroid people.
nodiet ( @nodiet@feddit.de ) 5•2 years agoI was actually pleasantly surprised when some subreddits announced their participation in the blackout with a picture including the infinity for reddit (and boost) icon(s).
Jaximus ( @Jaximus@lemmy.ml ) 6•2 years agoI tried Infinity but it simply wasn’t comfortable for me so I went back to Boost. I generally prefer FOSS but in this case I had to go with what worked best for me.
Arache Louver ( @Dubois_arache@lemmy.blahaj.zone ) 3•2 years agoI thought that infinity was FOSS haha :(. It was really good, so fast, so clear, not compared to web view or the awful app.
tmpod ( @tmpod@lemmy.pt ) 6•2 years agoInfinity is FOSS, Boost isn’t.
Arache Louver ( @Dubois_arache@lemmy.blahaj.zone ) 2•2 years agook, got it.
XPost3000 ( @XPost3000@lemmy.ml ) 25•2 years agoReally hoping that Infinity comes to Lemmy, I love the app
LemmyNameMyself ( @LemmyNameMyself@lemmy.world ) 23•2 years agoInfinity is amazing
Bumblefumble ( @Bumblefumble@beehaw.org ) 19•2 years agoI am in love with Boost and have used it religiously. Now I’m on Jerboa trying to get this Lemmy stuff to work, but I’m hopeful.
xradeon ( @xradeon@lemmy.one ) 8•2 years agoIt would be awesome if Boost could be re-written to work with Lemmy, but I have doubts that would happen. This is probably a good time for new people to have their work shine though, I’m excited to see new apps made for Lemmy.
randromeda ( @randromeda@lemmy.ml ) 3•2 years agoThe UIs are similar to some extent so it might not be a bad idea to have the boost dev work on Jerboa
worfamerryman ( @worfamerryman@beehaw.org ) 1•2 years agoI do not even know what Boost is. The reason I am on Lemmy is due to it being federated
mook ( @mook@lemmy.ml ) 18•2 years agoInfinity has been my go-to. Spending much less time on it though.
cavemeat ( @cavemeat@beehaw.org ) 1•2 years agoSame, I love infinity, but I’ve lost most of my interest in reddit.
frippa ( @frippa@lemmy.ml ) 18•2 years agoGod I will miss infinity, my account was banned for bogus reasons so the ability to sub to subs without being logged in was amazing, also love the interface
virtualfiber ( @virtualfiber@lemmy.ml ) 15•2 years agoInfinity is the best FOSS app I’ve used for Reddit and supported Relay through purchasing Pro. As a UI/UX Designer, I admire everything these devs contributed for their 3rd party apps to user experience compared to Reddit themselves.
GNU/Dhruv ( @gnuslashdhruv@lemmy.ml ) 7•2 years agoInfinity’s one of the most attractive Reddit UIs around. I’ve been using it for a while, I didn’t realize it was a FOSS app. Great to learn though!
virtualfiber ( @virtualfiber@lemmy.ml ) 3•2 years agoI just stumbled it upon FDroid’s homepage by accident. I tried it, then I never used my Relay ever again lol. But I missed scrolling reddit by one hand using Relay, very convenient feature! I though I was going to miss r/fossdroid, but there’s and open source instance here on lemmy also, c/opensource if you’re interested.
Lost_Wanderer ( @Lost_Wanderer@beehaw.org ) 15•2 years agoRedReader > anything
FOSS and lightweight and works perfectly. Hope he makes it work on Lemmy moving forward.
- RoundSparrow ( @RoundSparrow@lemmy.ml ) 10•2 years ago
RedReader really focuses on being able to read text. You can set font sizes on every aspect of postings and comments to exactly what you desire for the size of screen tablet/smartphone you have.
naoseiquemsou ( @naoseiquemsou@lemmy.ml ) 5•2 years agoRedreader user here too. I find it incredible how it’s hardly mentioned when people talk about unofficial reddit apps. It’s perhaps the one that maximizes having lots of functions, being lightweight, and being easy to use.
Parsnip8904 ( @Parsnip8904@beehaw.org ) 3•2 years agoRedreader is a beast. It might not look very fancy but it’s one of the most functional clients I’ve ever used. I saw someone had modified redreader to display lemmy communities on r/apihackathon and the RR dev seemed interested! So fingers crossed :)
Countmacula ( @Countmacula@lemmy.ml ) English1•2 years agoI loved redreader when I was on android. Wish it had an iOS port.
Nyxaion ( @Nyxaion@sopuli.xyz ) 15•2 years agoI use Infinity. It’s a bit different from what I used before, so I had to learn a few things, but now I like it. If Reddit gets rid of third party apps, or even old reddit, I don’t know if I’m going to keep using it.
Shrek ( @psysok@lemmy.ml ) 14•2 years agoIs Infinity FOSS? Its my preferred client, but I had no idea it was open source. Would be great if it supported Lemmy.
Nyaa ( @Nyaa@lemmy.blahaj.zone ) 13•2 years agoYep! Here’s their GitHub https://github.com/Docile-Alligator/Infinity-For-Reddit
Amy ( @dumpling@pawb.social ) 12•2 years agoIt would be cool if someone could use infinity’s code to make a Lemmy client
Not sure if it’s even possible though
Shrek ( @psysok@lemmy.ml ) 5•2 years agoNice, I have used a lot of apps over the years, but this is the one that has stuck with me.
It is
PanaX ( @PanaX@lemmy.ml ) 14•2 years agoWow, a mention of slide? Incredible. There are dozens of us!
nodiet ( @nodiet@feddit.de ) 6•2 years agoI used to use slide when it was the only way to get your own personalised front-page without logging into a reddit account. But infinity does that too, now, and has a much better UI imo
setInner234 ( @setInner234@feddit.de ) 5•2 years agoIn all these thousands of threads discussing 3rd party apps, this is the first mention I’ve seen of Slide. Wild!
CookieJarObserver ( @CookieJarObserver@feddit.de ) 14•2 years agoInfinity is a 11/10 but boost is great as well.
