Lobstronomosity ( @Lobstronomosity@lemmy.ml ) English55•1 year agoIt’s gonna be heavily moderated and anything negative will be removed, probably.
bappity ( @bappity@lemmy.ml ) English21•1 year agothey lied about Apollo blackmailing them I wouldn’t be surprised
erogenouswarzone ( @erogenouswarzone@lemmy.ml ) English4•1 year agoWhat? Who lied about what? Can you expand on this, I have no idea what it means other than knowing Apollo is probably referring to the Reddit app.
perkele ( @perkele@sopuli.xyz ) English14•1 year agoSo my understanding is Reddit, or specifically u/spez, tried to claim that the Apollo developer was blackmailing them over the entire API pricing debacle. The Apollo developer posted the audio and transcript of the call with Reddit showing they were lying. Now they’ve claimed his App is poorly developed and making wasteful amounts of API calls- so now he’s posted a large swath of code online to disprove that also.
tl;dr reddit CEO caught in a couple lies
bappity ( @bappity@lemmy.ml ) English2•1 year agosorry duud I’m using jerboa and didn’t get a notification for this, looks like people have already clarified below though
j4yc33 ( @j4yc33@kbin.social ) 6•1 year agoHa, the lemmy devs don’t know how to moderate correctly.
atocci ( @atocci@kbin.social ) 3•1 year agoIs Kbin Lemmy, or is Kbin just federated with Lemmy? Still trying to figure all this out.
JohannesOliver ( @JohannesOliver@kbin.social ) 9•1 year agoIt is federated, but its own thing.
zarquon ( @zarquon@sh.itjust.works ) 1•1 year agoWhat’s actually different about it?
JohannesOliver ( @JohannesOliver@kbin.social ) 6•1 year agoMostly interface, some say it is more simple. It does both the aggregation and communities like Lemmy and microblogging. It also does some sort of microblogging related to the individual communities but I don’t really understand how that feature works.
Somebody could use it instead of lemmy or mastodon, but it also federates to them so nobody misses out.
itchick2014 [Ohio] ( @itchick2014@midwest.social ) English28•1 year agoI hope it beats EA for downvotes lol.
ipkpjersi ( @ipkpjersi@lemmy.one ) English18•1 year agoI feel like it will, I swear he has every redditor pissed off at him right now.
averagedrunk ( @averagedrunk@lemmy.ml ) English8•1 year agoBecause there’s no way they’ll manipulate that number in the database.
kaffeebohne ( @kaffeebohne@feddit.de ) English4•1 year agoCould we theoretically pay reddit for API access and log / monitor any changes to the vote counts that way ?
Pisck ( @Pisck@lemmy.ml ) English5•1 year agoThere are actually some legit anti-spam reasons that reddit has been obfuscating vote counts and totals for a long time now. Even if this wasn’t a known phenomenon, I don’t think I’d trust the API call results anyway.
frippa ( @frippa@lemmy.ml ) English5•1 year agoI think it’s still free till the 1rst of July, so, if someone has experience they could do something like that
kaffeebohne ( @kaffeebohne@feddit.de ) English3•1 year agoMaybe someone should
ipkpjersi ( @ipkpjersi@lemmy.one ) English3•1 year agoActually that’s a really good point, and I should have thought of that because I’m actually a programmer lol
- argv_minus_one ( @argv_minus_one@beehaw.org ) English3•1 year ago
They didn’t bother with the announcement of the API prices. Only 4% upvoted.
cowleggies ( @cowleggies@reddthat.com ) English26•1 year agoThis is going to be better than the Woody Harrelson Rampart AMA. And by better I mean an unmitigated dumpster fire. Can’t wait.
Yeah I didnt realize they were giving away front row seats to the dumpster fire of a decade. I dont know if it can be worse than Elon buying twitter, but we can hope.
BackOnMyBS ( @BackOnMyBS@kbin.social ) 5•1 year agoCan’t beat the Jose Canseco one. I used to go back to it a few times a year when I was down for a pick me up. That AMA was prime shitposting.
Xer0 ( @Xer0@lemmy.ml ) English3•1 year agoBro come on, let’s just talk about Rampart. Alright?
Ado ( @Ado@lemmy.ml ) English24•1 year agoI used to be the CEO of one of the most visited sites before we decided to blow it up, AMAA!
Xer0 ( @Xer0@lemmy.ml ) English22•1 year agoWhen is it happening?!
Edit: What sort of idiot posts that there’s going to be an AMA and doesn’t even give a time?
TexMexBazooka ( @TexMexBazooka@lemm.ee ) English24•1 year agoThe kind of idiot that ruins their website by killing third party tools then lying about it
markipol ( @markipol@beehaw.org ) English16•1 year agoAlso slandering developers who have pretty much done your job for you for years
Its a meme bro.
Luminance6716 ( @Luminance6716@lemmy.one ) English20•1 year agoI can’t wait to see how bad this goes after reading about the Apollo drama with Reddit.
CheshireSnake ( @CheshireSnake@lemmy.one ) English15•1 year agoThis’ll be one of the worst AMAs after the James Corden one. Lmao. He’ll get crucified.
Edit: or maybe he’ll just edit the questions/comments of users before answering.
Xer0 ( @Xer0@lemmy.ml ) English4•1 year agoAnd Woodys one!
apprehensively_human ( @apprehensively_human@lemmy.ca ) English5•1 year agoGuys I think all this talk about Apollo is taking the spotlight away from my new movie, Rampart.
stanleytweedle ( @stanleytweedle@lemmy.ml ) English12•1 year agoI know this won’t happen but the best possible outcome would be if nobody showed up.
asexualchangeling ( @asexualchangeling@lemmy.ml ) English4•1 year agoI disagree, the best possible outcome would be if every single question was something that they don’t want to answer becouse it points out how bad they are at their job
stanleytweedle ( @stanleytweedle@lemmy.ml ) English6•1 year agoI think that’s essentially what will happen, but they’ll just remove comments they don’t like. If no one showed up at all they’d look even dumber. But it’s going to be a trainwreck for the ages so I’m looking forward to the show.
DJDSXSHOWFX ( @DJDSXSHOWFX@lemmy.ml ) English3•1 year agoWhy do you say that?
Wenchette ( @Wenchette@lemmy.ml ) English9•1 year agoWhat’s happening? Sorry for having to ask
InfiniWheel ( @InfiniWheel@lemmy.one ) English30•1 year agoFor the sake of avoiding linking to reddit, basically Spez accused the main Apollo dev of blackmailing them for 10 million to “make the drama go away”. But the call was recorded by the Apollo dev and it turns out Spez took one interaction out of context and even backtracked, since in the original call he even straight up said “oh sorry for misunderstanding”.
(The apollo dev said that if Apollo generates so much load on the servers why not just buy it to put an end to it. Spez took it as a threat, the Apollo dev explained himself and Spez apologized like 4 times for misunderstanding)
BackOnMyBS ( @BackOnMyBS@kbin.social ) 9•1 year agoI don’t know how someone can insults their character worse than by pretending to be a victim and getting caught as a fraud. At that point, your word is gone and no one should waste their time listening to anything you have to say.
animist ( @animist@lemmy.one ) English9•1 year agoAaron never would’ve been like Steve
buxtonwater ( @buxtonwater@lemmy.one ) English5•1 year agoThat’s why the government pushed him to suicide with their insane prison sentence. He was too good for us.
veroxii ( @veroxii@lemmy.world ) English6•1 year agoAnd the real irony is that it’s Reddit doing the extorting.
Wenchette ( @Wenchette@lemmy.ml ) English3•1 year agoThank you!
tookmyname ( @tookmyname@lemmy.ml ) English8•1 year agoReddit really going all on rage bait content.
lixus98 ( @lixus98@kbin.social ) 2•1 year agoHow is lemmy preparing for it?
