Coming from Reddit, the term subreddit was easy. Is there already a short name for Lemmy Communities?
Lemmity?
Lemmunity?
Sublemmit? (My wife’s suggestion, now my current favorite.)
FlavorGrain ( @FlavorGrain@lemmy.world ) English7•2 years agoHaha, Lemmunity was my first thought.
(also, my first comment here!)
burgersc12 ( @burgersc12@sh.itjust.works ) English6•2 years agoWhy not just community? It’s already called a community everywhere on the instances and its /c/ in the url. Imo it should start with a C no matter what
Thavron ( @Thavron@lemmy.ca ) English0•2 years agoYep. And can easily be shortened to com or comms.
gylotip ( @gylotip@lemmy.ml ) English0•2 years agoCommunities -> commies
thesalamander ( @thesalamander@lemmy.world ) English0•2 years agoPeople always referred to subreddits as a sub or community anyway. Easy.
wildbus8979 ( @wildbus8979@sh.itjust.works ) English3•2 years agoCommunity => Cums
burgersc12 ( @burgersc12@sh.itjust.works ) English3•2 years agoOk, so cum for short then?
Jivebunny ( @Jivebunny@lemmy.world ) English2•2 years agocunts
Kempeth ( @Kempeth@feddit.de ) English6•2 years agoA group of lemmings is called a “slice”.
If we’re not going for community I’d vote for this.
taj ( @taj@lemmy.ml ) English1•2 years agoI like slice! A slice of life… A slice of the lemmingverse 😁
tesfabpel ( @tesfabpel@lemmy.ml ) English4•2 years agoA sublemmy?
rss3091 ( @rss3091@lemmy.world ) English4•2 years agoSublems?
wdfa ( @wdfa@lemmy.world ) English2•2 years agoI got 99 sublems but u/spez ain’t one
Anarch157a ( @Anarch157a@lemmy.world ) English3•2 years agoI upvote “sublems” or “sublemmies”.
Lemmings… Yup. I like that.
nieceandtows ( @nieceandtows@lemmy.world ) English6•2 years agoLemmings should refer to the users
00Lemming ( @00Lemming@lemmy.world ) English1•2 years agoAgreed.
slacktoid ( @slacktoid@lemmy.ml ) English3•2 years agoLemmurians
Lemuria ( @lemuria@lemmy.ml ) English1•2 years agono
RandomDude ( @FuryFaceofDoom@lemmy.ml ) English3•2 years agoI like the idea of a Slice!
JerkyIsSuperior ( @JerkyIsSuperior@lemmy.world ) English3•2 years agoCommunity is fine, please, no cutesy nicknames.
Puls3 ( @Puls3@lemmy.ml ) English3•2 years agoI like slice.
Sonemonkey ( @Sonemonkey@lemmy.world ) English2•2 years agoLemming
RecaffeinatedDecaf ( @RecaffeinatedDecaf@sopuli.xyz ) English2•2 years agoMlems
…No, hear me out. If we’re lemmings, therefore lems, a community is many lems. So mlems. Also it’s catchy.
akvomelono ( @akvomelono@lemmy.world ) English1•2 years agoThat’s actually what the iOS app is called! Mlem
gravalicious ( @gravalicious@lemmy.world ) English0•2 years agoHoly cannoli, someone should make an app named that!

akvomelono ( @akvomelono@lemmy.world ) English1•2 years agoOmfg I’m so sorry I saw this right after I posted my comment
grin ( @grin@grinnit.grin.hu ) English2•2 years agoLemmings.
iso ( @iso@lemmy.com.tr ) English0•2 years agoThis has been used for “redditor” by now btw.
grin ( @grin@grinnit.grin.hu ) English1•2 years agosame thing…
Ketram ( @Ketram@lemmy.world ) English2•2 years agoPersonally I prefer Community, it is nicely neutral and conveys the correct message I think. If people think that’s too broad, then “sub” is a solid short option.
Lemon_Man ( @Lemon_Man@lemmy.ml ) English2•2 years agoLem
plural: Lems
