Coming from Reddit, the term subreddit was easy. Is there already a short name for Lemmy Communities?
Lemmity?
Lemmunity?
Sublemmit? (My wife’s suggestion, now my current favorite.)
- FlavorGrain ( @FlavorGrain@lemmy.world ) English7•1 year ago
Haha, Lemmunity was my first thought.
(also, my first comment here!)
- burgersc12 ( @burgersc12@sh.itjust.works ) English6•1 year ago
Why not just community? It’s already called a community everywhere on the instances and its /c/ in the url. Imo it should start with a C no matter what
- Thavron ( @Thavron@lemmy.ca ) English0•1 year ago
Yep. And can easily be shortened to com or comms.
- gylotip ( @gylotip@lemmy.ml ) English0•1 year ago
Communities -> commies
- thesalamander ( @thesalamander@lemmy.world ) English0•1 year ago
People always referred to subreddits as a sub or community anyway. Easy.
- wildbus8979 ( @wildbus8979@sh.itjust.works ) English3•1 year ago
Community => Cums
- burgersc12 ( @burgersc12@sh.itjust.works ) English3•1 year ago
Ok, so cum for short then?
- Jivebunny ( @Jivebunny@lemmy.world ) English2•1 year ago
cunts
- Kempeth ( @Kempeth@feddit.de ) English6•1 year ago
A group of lemmings is called a “slice”.
If we’re not going for community I’d vote for this.
- taj ( @taj@lemmy.ml ) English1•1 year ago
I like slice! A slice of life… A slice of the lemmingverse 😁
- tesfabpel ( @tesfabpel@lemmy.ml ) English4•1 year ago

- rss3091 ( @rss3091@lemmy.world ) English4•1 year ago

I upvote “sublems” or “sublemmies”.
Lemmings… Yup. I like that.
- nieceandtows ( @nieceandtows@lemmy.world ) English6•1 year ago
Lemmings should refer to the users
- 00Lemming ( @00Lemming@lemmy.world ) English1•1 year ago

Mlems
…No, hear me out. If we’re lemmings, therefore lems, a community is many lems. So mlems. Also it’s catchy.
- akvomelono ( @akvomelono@lemmy.world ) English1•1 year ago
That’s actually what the iOS app is called! Mlem
- gravalicious ( @gravalicious@lemmy.world ) English0•1 year ago
Holy cannoli, someone should make an app named that!

Omfg I’m so sorry I saw this right after I posted my comment
- grin ( @grin@grinnit.grin.hu ) English2•1 year ago
Lemmings.
- iso ( @iso@lemmy.com.tr ) English0•1 year ago
This has been used for “redditor” by now btw.
- grin ( @grin@grinnit.grin.hu ) English1•1 year ago
same thing…
- Ketram ( @Ketram@lemmy.world ) English2•1 year ago
Personally I prefer Community, it is nicely neutral and conveys the correct message I think. If people think that’s too broad, then “sub” is a solid short option.
- Lemon_Man ( @Lemon_Man@lemmy.ml ) English2•1 year ago
Lem
plural: Lems
