grey ( @grey@discuss.tchncs.de ) 9•2 years agoFrance is getting more and more authoritarian lately.
PenguinTD ( @PenguinTD@lemmy.ca ) English2•2 years agosounds like MPAA’s EU version wants to lob together “piracy” and “phishing” protections into one single thing and muddy the water. Like, don’t shift the responsibility to browser eh? Just implement a “Great France Firewall” and hire Chinese specialist?
It is very easy to register and have signed verified domains that doing decent enough scam/phishing until it is reported and blacklisted. If they spend more on education and special program to teach common folks about safe internet behavior, how to identify scams, it will be more effective. (the tech savvy people can freaking build their own fork of browser to go around legislation, there is no stopping people doing that.
No kidding. They get any worse and they’ll give my nation (USA) a run for its money.
animist ( @animist@lemmy.one ) 1•2 years agoMacron was already a huge piece of shit, but when the French eventually elect Le Pen there won’t be any difference between the two of them
Ummmm. No.
randomguy2323 ( @randomguy2323@lemmy.fmhy.ml ) 4•2 years agoOh hell no. Wtf is going on France , please get rid of Macron!
Umm, I didn’t do all the cross posting. Anyone know what’s up with that?
I believe the Lemmy software does that automatically when the same link has already been posted on other federated instances.
Fosheze ( @Fosheze@beehaw.org ) 1•2 years agoWell that’s going to be imposible to enforce. Anyone can just vpn to a different region and still get whatever browser they want. They would definitely have to block vpns as well to actually pull this off and that definitely isn’t happening.
This is no different from the encryption ban the US has tried a few times. It’s something being pushed by a few ludites but it won’t go through. The people are against it and more importantly large corporations are against it because it will negatively impact their control over their own networks.
