I tried Opensuse, I didn’t like it. It sort of felt just a bit off and I think a large majority of that was Yast’s fault. Debian and Arch based distros I think will remain my preference for some time given the recent events.
In my case I was ecosystem’d into RPM and Flatpak, so openSUSE makes me happy
RPM just reminds me of my first experiences with Linux 20 years back. It wasn’t a very pleasant experience from what I remember and then
aptcame along and seemed to solve so much. It was so good and simpleapt update && apt upgrade. I’ve never been tempted to go back really as I haven’t seen the need.aptis to Debian and Ubuntu whatdnfis to RHEL-based distros (Fedora, CentOS, RHEL, Alma/Rocky) orzypperis to SUSE-based distros. RPM’s equivalent is dpkg
It took me a while to get used to openSUSE as well. I’ve been enjoying it though.
I think I’m with you. I have very smart friends who swear by tumbleweed though. I’m personally using Debian bases for work, and a mix of Arch and NixOS at home.
While this isn’t really the community for memes (we have !humor@beehaw.org), I won’t say no to the occasional meme as long it doesn’t incite a flame war or devolve into people making low effort comments. If people are having meaningful, healthy discussions in the comments, I don’t see the harm in keeping it up!

I actually have no real issue with RedHat still, but I moved from Silverblue to Nix just because this whole thing made me consider it again. Nix is amazing. Glad I switched.
Yea, Nix is… very much comfy. To me the most comfy part of it though, is how easy it is to get ZFS-on-root setup there. Just… bliss.
I’m a BTRFS homey, but maybe this is the excuse I need to try out ZFS.
Both are very cute and comfy But are very much different… A lot.
Also, it definitely won’t hurt to try out, so go for it :D
Nice that you ask. Personally I don’t like silly content in a tech community but I don’t mind it.
It’s the first time in a decade that it crossed my mind to move away from Fedora at some point, if there’s a clear sign that it’s going the way of CentOS.
I hope I won’t have to though. Like everyone else, I had my distrohopping days, and Fedora’s the one that clicked for me. Please don’t make me have to use
aptagain :/Fedora is still okay for me. For me, an operating system is just a tool not a political movement
Installing Fedora last year was my first dnf distro.
It’s been quite nice but I’ll likely move to Void/Gentoo/Debian once support for 37 ends.
