Cool, hopefully modders can take advantage of this, it’d be cool to see what kinda stuff folk can come up with.

It’s very cool that we are slowly getting source code for some games! Both through leaks and decompiles. Have the source is so helpful for preservation and mods.

It’s kinda cool, but this code is at least 20 years old lol. Aside from a programmer who might read it and go “huh this is neat” there is no value to this at all

Theres alot of open source projects that reimplement old games with a more modern engine to make it run at current resolutions and have better graphics, this definitely has some value for the people that might wanna work on that. Theres a diablo 1 reimplemenation that was reverse engineered from leaked code i believe

This, so much this.
I may be making things up here, but if my memory servers me well, the code leak that Team Fortress 2 experienced has greatly helped the ongoing development of the two popular mods for the game, namely Team Fortress 2 Classic and Open Fortress.
With a fan-favorite like Far Cry, we may be headed for better quality mods down the line.
I wish Xenus: Boiling Point was revitalized, too, but I don’t think anybody cares about that old-timer.

Using leaked code for RE is ilegal, but it’s not Nintendo. I bet the publisher won’t care at this point.

What do you mean 20 years ol-… holy fuck they’re right. I am sad now.

I would love the see a native Linux version. I’m not an fps gamer, but even I loved Far Cry 1. (and not another Far Cray game, or game from Crytek)

Even though the law-abiding part of me says that game source leaks are bad, I still feel quite a bit of giddy joy whenever I hear about one!

Far Cry is ancient. At this point, having its code leak is the greater good for the media preservation more than anything… besides, people won’t go starving because of it, so it’s damn good over all. Stay at ease and rejoice!

Yeah, this is also just the source code. People will still need the game assets, so people will still have a reason to purchase from services such as GoG.
