Submitted a post to r/usa advocating for more public transportation, bikability, walkability, and urbanity in general.
What irony be this, that in my earnest endeavor to illuminate the virtues of civility, my words were misconstrued as mere jest, my wit mistaken for malice. How swiftly the great reddit mods strike, casting me into the shadows of banishment. My intent was pure, my purpose noble, yet my words lost their essence, I was reduced to but a troll. They called me a troll! Oh, the indignity! A troll they called me!
Empricorn ( @Empricorn@feddit.nl ) English34•8 months agoYou posted a screenshot of the ban notice, but not the content itself…? Without any context at all, why would I believe you over that mod, or anyone else for that matter?
Rentlar ( @Rentlar@lemmy.ca ) 4•8 months agoYeah exactly, because there are ways to advocate for something without sounding like a troll… which OP may or may not have done.
I did so with non-burner account.
gregorum ( @gregorum@lemm.ee ) English18•8 months agoWhy are you posting about Reddit here?
Because the nature of the post is highly relevant to the lack of dialogue regarding public transit in the United States. It very well could have been any social media platform and I would have shared the act of censorship.
gregorum ( @gregorum@lemm.ee ) English3•8 months agoBut you’re not here discussing public transit, or even the lack of discussion about public transit in the us. You made a post complaining about getting banned from a subreddit. On Lemmy.
I certainly did, because that’s what this post was for. Each post has a reason, and whilst some may be directly about one thing others will be about another!
Victor Villas ( @villasv@beehaw.org ) 18•8 months agoPerhaps writing like a normal person instead of a theatrical character could help not getting into mods nerves lol
Hacksaw ( @Hacksaw@lemmy.ca ) 3•8 months agoI mean, is there a rule against being odd? Do we all have to speak the same way and say the same things to avoid being banned? Seems like a dangerous viewpoint. As long as someone isn’t being uncivil, they shouldn’t recieve a permanent ban.
Victor Villas ( @villasv@beehaw.org ) 2•8 months agoProbably not. Certainly not. Very dangerous, thankfully not near what I said. Being civil might not be enough depending on the community rules and mod style.
Haha noted
qdJzXuisAndVQb2 ( @qdJzXuisAndVQb2@lemm.ee ) 5•8 months agoI mean, I want to ban you from here, so I can see why someone else gave into the temptation elsewhere.
MrFunnyMoustache ( @MrFunnyMoustache@lemmy.ml ) 3•8 months agoWhy am I not surprised…
PM_ME_FAT_ENBIES ( @PM_ME_FAT_ENBIES@lib.lgbt ) English1•8 months agoCalling leftists “trolls” is a classic reactionary tactic. You can see it on platforms like Hexbear
Franzia ( @Franzia@lemmy.blahaj.zone ) 1•8 months agoOk but what’s your favorite form of transit OP
