I used to watch some of his stuff. It got really annoying when he went in on the AI agents.

At some later point I saw some video of him mentioning how tech made you feel like you are being behind and you should step back into real things. The audacity when all of his videos are “You need to learn xyz RIGHT NOW!!”.

You guys have to do the inverted products again to make it more clear for folks not in the know.

There’s always open source at the home level and for people that have a say in small businesses.

Or larger companies start to notice the large gaps in security affecting their bottom line due to reviews with large lines of code getting what’s a rubber stamp at best.

I’m guessing this will take years though, companies tend to not care unless they lose large contracts and are happy to throw individual managers or directors under the bus to appease a client.

During the entire time I followed the hardware, Nintendo refused to acknowledge the issue and even only replaced them on countries that brought meaningful legal action to them. When you say newer ones do you mean Nintendo or other manufacturers? I still seem to only find hall effect ones from third parties on our poor excuse of a search engine (google).

For those of us that didn’t follow VR, which controllers are drift prone.

From a non-VR perspective, the switch controller I own suck and drift. Is it that bad as well on that front?

A lot of us are tired of high end BS no one can afford and highly proprietary stuff. Hollow Knight is the best game I’ve played in a long, long time and it could have been played with my 10+ year old midrange computer vs the updated one which was quieter for sure but didn’t feel like much of an upgrade given how unoptimized AAA games are now.

Perhaps this is a blessing in disguise and we might see some actual game engine optimizations that don’t expect hardware to keep getting better to perform. Plenty of games that were previously seen as a no go are now targeting the steam deck, which makes them more playable overall in every system.

Edit: my point: more sales = more interest = better optimization = better graphics at a lower entry point.

Had manager that wanted us to return error codes on a field of an API response along with an HTTP 200 because “errors bad”. It needed a few of us to make him understand how that worked against common design patterns and you still had to handle error codes since you didn’t know if the error would be coming from the app, web server, api gateway, local network (no internet), etc.

It literally says they won’t be able to be registered after a factory reset. That’s a ticking time bomb for anyone that might not be aware.

Except it hasn’t, and they are still functional. If anything they could have disabled WiFi to remove an exploit vector if they were out of support but retained the USB functions, but they promise to brick them on factory reset instead.

I remember a similar experience. So much time was wasted just keeping some small app limping along with security patches because no one knew or wanted to know how it worked.

Pair that with oracle’s notoriously useless support which always required you to be on the latest patch before even providing an answer and it made the decision to leave it in the rearview mirror the easiest part of some modernization effort.

My point was that american companies have in the past on purpose designed cars, washing machines, etc. to fail so you need to buy another one in some years. Both EVs and ICE cars at ford, GM, etc. adhere to the same leadership and company goals regardless of how they spin it.

Ford was known for letting a failed known design flaw kill people in the past since they ran the numbers and it was cheaper to battle people in court (a topic in ethics classes). Once the trust is gone, it’s hard to get it back.
