1. Had a feeling that something like that would be the answer. One area that Bluesky has the Fediverse beat is blocklists of users that are there for bad intentions. At least they’re not interested in protecting abusive users there.

Ah, so a Lemmy limitation once again. Kinda like how a trans community can’t decide to disable downvotes without it being all or nothing. It would definitely make this a whole lot better if users could at least finish creating their profiles, even if they’re unable to upload images elsewhere. There’s always imgur but that doesn’t work for profile pics. But somehow I’m not surprised that it’s a platform limitation.

I definitely do and if I was rich, I would definitely be donating to causes like this regularly. I very much appreciate what you’re providing for us here. But as an end user that’s just looking for the perfect place to park and call my online home, I have to also consider my experience here and can’t run on just idealism and good will. It’s a pity about the images thing because this instance seems otherwise almost perfect for me. But I completely understand. And thank you for providing this space for people like me on the first place.

This is one that gets me the most. People complaining about having options in character creation in an RPG. That boils down what these people are really about though. They don’t want options or variety, they want everything to cater to and revolve around them at all times. That’s why they act like white men are being erased from existence when 1 in every 10 superhero movies have a female lead actor.

• Not looking after my teeth. I’m paying dearly and endlessly for it now. Doesn’t matter what good habits I develop now or what I do, my teeth are still fucked. This is actually one of the main things that makes me think I’ve got lifelong undiagnosed something. Because I just never developed the clockwork habit of looking after my teeth and even today it’s a constant struggle that needs reminders in my phone and shit.

• Kinda messed up both of my knees being an idiot that couldn’t ride motorbikes properly or carefully enough. I can walk with them fine but they feel… uncomfortable is the best word I can think of to describe it. And every now and then I’ll turn wrong or do something wrong and the pain is unbearable, sometimes into the next day with a bit of swelling. Tried going to a doctor about them and he was an asshole that barely turned away from his computer to look at me. And kinda scoffed and acted like I was an idiot when I tried to explain the issue. Ended up telling me it was normal wear and tear. I’m so fed up with the public healthcare system here.

My favourite part is that these are the and people that go around calling others “snowflakes” and telling people to get thicker skins. But everything triggers them. And try arguing with them or insulting them in the same way that they freely insult everyone else and they’ll either be crying about how persecuted against they are (as opposed to groups of people that are literally losing their rights and used as political scapegoats daily) or they want to get aggressive and fight.

They’re absolute fragile, insecure babies and it shows with the way they can’t handle men having backsides or think they need to shave their eyelashes off to be more ‘manly’.

So does that mean it gets one more season before Netflix cancels it?

Just took a look and it definitely seems like the kind of instance that I’m looking for. The only thing is, I’ve just recently come from another instance with downvotes disabled (Blahaj) and was wanting to get a look at Lemmy with all votes enabled. Honestly I wish that individual communities or instances could choose to have downvotes disabled without it effecting every other instance too. Sucks that it’s an all or nothing kind of deal.

By the way, just realised that I’m an absolute idiot that was looking at the wrong list and that lemmy.zip is in fact federated with hilariouschaos. I’m honestly getting tired of being blind or doing dumb things, I promise I’m not normally a stupid person but it’s like my brain isn’t working properly these days.

Lmao holy shit. And it would be the South African side that does this 🤦‍♂️ I hate it here lol. The scary part is that this slogan had to have been seen by multiple people before it got posted on social media. And not one saw the problem.

Just dropped my phone and now half the screen is messed up and barely readable. Great. Guess that anything I save now is going to another cheap piece of shit phone that I dislike first, before it goes to anything worthwhile.

I have always got good vibes from zip users and communities in the past. I see that one instance they de-federate from unfortunately is that hilariouschaos instance. One of the reasons I signed up here was to see the alt community there. That instance definitely gives me certain vibes though and it’s a pity that there’s a few communities on there of interest to me. But yeah, I’d like to find an instance that gets rid of illegal content and doesn’t allow straight bigotry under the guise of ‘free speech’ but I’d also like to be able to decide for myself sometimes. And block users or communities myself if they disagree with my politics or lifestyle.

Thanks, I guess I’ll just try doing homework this time to find exactly what I’m looking for. An instance that just doesn’t do any de-federating whatsoever is also kinda scary because I don’t want CSAM and shit ending up in my feed. I also don’t want to end up cut off from places like Blåhaj because of admins not taking action over certain things.

So I need something more like world or ee. But without any limits on image uploading either because I’d rather find an instance that can be both message board and image host than look for some third party image host platform to use that may or may not work nicely with various apps.

My problem is not reading properly. Because I was taken by surprise by the no downvotes thing when I signed up on Blåhaj and I was taken by surprise here on lemm.ee with the 4 week wait and 500kb limit on file uploads. So basically I just need to do my homework and read properly.

Thought I’d just ask you here in this comment chain seeing as you’re pretty extensively well traveled in the Fediverse lol. What other good options are there for instances that don’t do a lot of de-federating (and give you the general ‘Reddit’ experience) but also aren’t completely unmoderated? I don’t want to end up somewhere that half of the Fediverse de-federates from for whatever reason. Is it just lemmy.world and lemm.ee?

Yeah it’s not too bad but pretty annoying. I’d rather just answer more complicated questions and wait 1 day for someone to confirm my account when signing up than this 4 week limit personally. Quick signup but then you’re locked out of one of the most common functionalities around here for a month first.

But yeah, it’s nice getting to see the underbelly of this place myself. Not as filthy as I expected lol. Also started using a new app, Summit, that goes beyond any other app I’ve tried so far. So I’ve been having fun tagging users and making multicommunities.

Thinking of looking for another instance where I don’t have to wait 4 weeks just to upload a profile pic lol. But otherwise it’s interesting getting a more unfiltered look at Lemmy. And eye opening seeing downvotes again. People downvote the dumbest shit, like there’s people around that haven’t realised that there’s a third option instead of upvoting or downvoting - just scrolling past and ignoring if you don’t personally like it.

Yeah, also forcing it to sit or stay somewhere. And getting angry at retaliation and that sort of thing.

Obviously there’s exceptions like children or people who maybe just genuinely don’t know how to handle animals but I think a lot show their true colours when it comes to something that can’t really fight back or speak for itself like a pet.

Some people are very forceful with animals and disrespectful of boundaries with them. I think that cats especially are good at making it clear what they would like or not like you to do.

Maybe it’s an unfair criteria to judge people on but people forcing animals to do things or otherwise treating them like objects is a red flag to me.
