That’s funny because a few hours after president orange blob said that, Belarus said no such talks exist. They said they have only a 1/3 of what the US needs, and they sell to other countries anyway, like russia and China.

We’ve flown premium for and 3 years now after finding a seat sale where it was cheaper than economy. We loved the wider seats, increased legroom, and the food so much we’ve stayed at it.

In May I asked for a raise. Not just asked, but researched thoroughly my position and responsibilities and spent a week coming up with the perfect email stating a figure and supporting it.

I started the job in 2017, got a cross-promotion (more duties same pay) to coordinating smaller projects and suggesting organizational improvements.

I was making the same salary since starting in 2017.

Tonight I received an official offer of employment.

It’s a 23% raise with guaranteed minimum 3% raise yearly, and 4 weeks vacation up from the legal 2, and I’m getting retroactive pay back to last year’s promotion.

It’s far, far more than I asked or expected, but I’m over the moon and probably won’t sleep tonight.

In Canada most or all employees can refuse work if they legitimately and reasonable believe an aspect of their work is unsafe.

I’ve used it a couple of times over the years. The last time being the outside temperature was over 30, and the AC was broken, leading to my office being mid 20s. I felt sleepy, nauseated, and just plain too hot.

I refused to work until the AC was fixed. Although my employer and I worked out something, new AC was installed the next spring.

I have ADHD and OCD, which means writing reports, proposals, and even simple emails is very difficult for me in a number of ways. For the last year or so, I tell ChatGPT what I want to say and I work to polish or complete what it gives me, and out comes exactly what I wanted.

I’m not able to do that stuff myself. I’m just not mentally able to do it by myself. I strongly support ChatGPT and will continue to use it as long as I can.

I agree, though, that the data centres are helping destroy the Earth. I don’t know how to reconcile that.
