Hahah! I didn’t know this one and it indeed made me laugh. Yeah, it’s precisely like that.
Well, not gramps yet, my kids are teens (youngest is 14) and my living condition, in a third world country, is not that great. My wife and I own our house, though, and our family has decent health plan and we had (and our kids have) very decent public education.

Lurking in Lemmy makes me realise how toxic Reddit was becoming these latest years. I like it here. It feels warm and comfy.

2·3 年前I think you might like A Los Jóvenes de Ayer, by the Argentine prog-rock band Serú Girán.

3·3 年前It won’t. Sometimes it feels like some people have been reading certain dystopian science fiction and alternate history novels and stories as if they were a blueprint instead of a warning.
My old person traits are most of all posted here because I am an old person.
But I’ll add that my old person traits is that I think a living wage should support… er… living, including a place to live, food to eat, paying for services, buying clothes, getting decent public health and education, and even have spare money for your free time (hobbies, eat out, theatre, concerts, etc.).
Thanks a lot for your answer! I guess it all comes down to common sense and being nice. As for the first, I’ll try my best. As for the second, it’ll be much easier, I tend to get along with people. Special thanks for a very prompt answer!
Regards from far away (I’m guessing here).
:o)
Now I browse reddit 99% on my phone. I use mostly Sync and (sometimes) Boost.

Hello. I’m just another Reddit refugee (I know, I’m not original). Thanks for allowing these rafts to get ashore, and sorry for the 500 error. I guess the influx of so many of us arriving here now can be blamed for that. Let’s hope we can also contribute to keep this a good place. Hey, older members here: any good advice for us to do so? Thanks!

Civil war in contemporary USA. And the right manipulating the system to give itself perpetual, absolute power.
It’s an interesting alternate history novel.
