Yeah I was gonna say, this is flawed in that they’ve been non-chronological for a while of course the people still using it like it.

DayZ is great now (and stand-alone from Arma). Not exactly mil-sim but a lot of the loot is military.
I really like Factory Town. It’s more of a factory game but has farming and town building elements. If you’ve ever played Shapez it’s a lot like that but deeper. There are chains of things you need to research and produce to then produce better tech later (for example you learn to make basic wood things, then wooden wheels, then you can use the wheels you produce combined with cloth you produce to make conveyor belts). Selling these things makes the residents happy which unlocks expansion. They have a food system too which you farm the food and turn it into juice or pies or sandwiches etc. Eventually you are mining magic crystals producing magic stuff.
Goods are not the only form of incentive. The jobs that nobody wants to do would have more people doing them for less time. For example you can be a graphic designer for 1 year or work the sewer for 1 month.
I’m stoked it seems the fighting system will be exactly the same, or turn based anyway.
You eating Taco Bell at 3am after 24 natty lights…
