Basil of Baker Street

Why would you assume they aren’t going to cheat as much as possible no matter what?

Haha, silly Asians, making everything out of rice. How quaint.
Proceeds to eat processed American food which is basically a blend of corn products

Probably because fucking humans is more popular than fucking fruit.

I think the current problem is that the politicians who believe in implementing them don’t have the numbers to actually do so, and voter apathy gets in the way of achieving those numbers. There’s been a ton of climate policy over the years, it’s just that for the last couple decades the party that pretends climate change doesn’t exist has been stonewalling climate policy because it would hurt corporate profits.

The theory I heard is that it carries the taboo of someone close to you without being actual incest. People like the “forbidden fruit” aspect of fantasizing about someone they have a close non-sexual relationship with, like their coworker or neighbor or friend or whatever, but those relationships don’t really translate as taboo when it’s not your coworker or neighbor or friend or whatever. So step-relations are used as a broad stand-in.

I was making a joke, I do not know the actual title of the movie

It’s called ‘Brazil Nuts’

Definitely, there’s absolutely a place for central planning and state run enterprise.

A fully planned economy? Probably not. You could probably get a few key industries, but a country is a lot more complex than a corporation.
Even with better computational tools, you have to worry about the interface of those tools. Who determines the priorities of different commodities? If AI, who trained the AI and what data did they use? What happens when operators fudge numbers for one reason or another? What happens when projections differ from reality?
An economy is complex and dynamic. Simple, straightforward industry and administration can use modern tools to operate more efficiently. But I don’t think we can construct a system which collects data accurately enough to make useful conclusions across the entire economy. Even with the best computer imaginable, garbage in garbage out.
And even if you could perfectly collect necessary data, you’ve just built yourself a perfect surveillance state.

I mean, you’re the one shopping at the corpo-capitalist shithole store. You already gave them your money. Why create a hazard for other shoppers and more work for the wage slave?

I used to do a lot of sudoku in high school, then didn’t for like 15 years, then started again recently with the daily games
Network effect though. When it comes to social engagement, you go to the most popular option because that’s where people are.
To be clear, I agree with building alternatives. Just acknowledging why people still use Facebook for this stuff.
