Honestly, supporting linux makes absolutely no sense for vanguard.

If you use vanguard, it’s because you’re fine with a company taking full control of your system, installing a rootkit tracking your every move.

If you use Linux, at least part of the reason is because you want to take control over your computer back.

To support vanguard on linux, you’d have had to run vanguard as hypervisor with linux running in a para-VM, or you’d have had to modify most of the linux kernel to add tracking and control capabilities that’d never get merged upstream and would break with every update.

The resulting system would be closer to android or a playstation than to actual linux distros.

That’s definitely wrong. You should follow danielle’s mastodon, she’s working on elementary all the time.

The 50€ Patreon tier perks include “everything ad-free”. And there’s no repo or source available anywhere.

WTF

Having a voting and a non-voting class of shares is relatively common around the world, tbh. Jack Ma held 53% of voting shares, so he should’ve theoretically kept control.

This doesn’t really sound like a decision based on the rule of law, but more like a political one designed to specifically hurt Jack Ma’s power, especially considering his “absence” a few years ago.

This ruling isn’t turning the company into a co-op. All it did is shift power from one group of rich chinese people to another. It’s not really anything to celebrate.

Sure, it’d be a solution for five minutes until someone delids the secure enclave on the gaming card, extracts the keys, and builds their own open source hw alternative.

High-performance FPGAs are actually relatively cheap if you take apart broken elgato/bmd capture cards, just a pain in the butt to reball and solder them. But possibly the cheapest way to be able to emulate any chip you could want.

Element has the same costs as Signal. So far, Element has been lucky in being able to raise money by selling support contracts to governments or companies using Matrix, but even that isn’t enough, which is why Element has been raising money for the Matrix Foundation for almost a year now (with little success).

Microsoft actually locked down the BIOS on several Windows 10 S devices to prevent users from installing non-MS OSes with enforced MS-only secure boot.

Every other country? IG Metall (Germany) is also preparing to fight Tesla.

He also uses his own http server that in turn queries the ldap server solely for the articles. The rest is compiled into the http server binary.

Ah, you met fefe.

I pay for netflix, prime, disney+, paramount+, youtube premium, nebula, and a few more services. I buy music and movies, if available, on bluray and rip them to my own jellyfin server.

And yet, about 20% of what I watch, I’ve got to pirate because there’s no reasonable way to actually watch it. Legal ways often only have the German dub, or are lower quality.

(When I was younger, my family was relatively poor, so back then I obviously pirated everything, but once I could afford it I wiped my entire collection and bought the exact same content properly again, for moral reasons obviously but also because I prefer to do rips myself so they’ve got proper quality).

Badly shielded USB3 causes RF leaks at 2.4GHz. use 5Ghz WiFi or better shielded devices.

I still hope it’s just a driver or configuration issue, for now I just dual boot for resolve, but that’s obviously not a long term solution.

Sadly even Resolve Studio doesn’t support h264 all-intra as used in Sony’s XAVC-I and XAVC-S-I on Linux, which sucks.

With XAVC-I CineEI Slog footage the metadata is enough that Resolve treats it as Raw (in fact, it’s more flexible than braw). So losing this functionality really hurts.
