MentalEdge ( @MentalEdge@sopuli.xyz ) 38•5 months agoWhy is this so accurate
Half of the “artisan” burger chains in my city are marginally better than a fast-food chain. One, maybe two of them make burgers so good that they’re worth the occasional splurge.
NegativeLookBehind ( @NegativeLookBehind@kbin.social ) 21•5 months agoThere’s a BBQ place near me, and I ordered tater tots there once, as a side. They were $4. They literally gave me 4 tater tots. They were one dollar apiece.

RHOPKINS13 ( @RHOPKINS13@kbin.social ) 16•5 months agoTo be fair, Five Guys is every bit as expensive. But I’ll take Five Guys over most of those places anyway. Free peanuts is tempting.
the_artic_one ( @the_artic_one@programming.dev ) English1•5 months agoFive guys is a $15 burger with no sides place not a $20 burger with no sides place.
ursakhiin ( @ursakhiin@beehaw.org ) 1•5 months agoMan. Maybe I’m lucky, but the five guys near me is 11.29 for a full sized cheeseburger with no sides. 12.69 is the most expensive one with bacon but I usually just do the little one which is 8.79.
They do charge an arm and a leg for the fries, though. Which I guess is to be expected since their measurements for a small fry is “all of them”
Interstellar_1 ( @Interstellar_1@pawb.social ) 1•5 months agoHave I just gone to a bad Five Guys? I went to one once last year and the burger was mediocre at best and the fries were greasy to the point of being sickening. I haven’t gone back since.

Truck_kun ( @Truck_kun@beehaw.org ) English7•5 months agoBurger King has a new burger that I like, and it’s $10 (burger only). I would order it lots if it was $7 to 8, but $10 is a tad much.
Eating out now days is just too expensive in general. If I’m going to eat out, I rather go to an actual restaurant, because fast food costs about the same now days. $14-16 fast food mean vs $12-22 for sit down meal. I can keep the fast food costs down, but that’s usually without a meal, and/or ordering inferior products.

LocoOhNo ( @LocoOhNo@lemmus.org ) English3•5 months agoThere’s a restaurant in Florida called “The Ormond Garage” and they don’t serve fries with the burger. It’s another like $6 for fries that aren’t even that good. I went there once and they didn’t have to go cups for the meal that I called in… The server told me she could get me a regular cup and I could just drink it there while they were putting my $15 burger into a takeout box.
I contemplated walking out with the beer glass they handed me, but I just left.
