The first time I listened to those songs, they were transformative experiences. So freakin good.
I offer Witchcraft by King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
I request power metal recommendations, please.
I request power metal recommendations, please.
Blind Guardian (earlier stuff was primarily speed metal)
Unleash the Archers
Unlucky Morpheus
I hesitate to recommend Iced Earth since the bandleader is a raging POS but they fit the bill
Nightwish is more symphonic than power but they’re top notch and might scratch that itch
I went to Kamelot’s show last weekend, if you don’t know them definitely check them out. Opening act was Ad Infinitum, I didn’t know them but I was blown away! Melissa Bonny is an amazing singer.
Here’s few of my favorites
One of my favorites from Kiuas as it also contains part where they sing in Finnish :P More popular songs are “Warrior Soul” and “Kiuassault”.
Turmion Kätilöt - Vastanaineet
2 Times Terror - Ikävässä Paikassa (side project of Turmion Kätilöt)
Children Of Bodom - Are You Dead Yet?, also Oops I Did It Again! is epic 😁
Bring Me The Horizon ft. Babymetal - Kingslayer
Star-Lord band - Zero to Hero (from Guardians of the Galaxy game)
Noora Louhimo is a goddess. What a voice! (The singer of Battle Beast).
I’ve seen her live and I tell you, she somehow sounds even better?!
Battle Beast is currently my favorite live band what I’ve seen. Show has always been epic and full of energy, I just love it.

Try out some Botanist.
Two instrument black metal. Drums, and hammer dulcimer. Sometimes has Bass guitar. Very atmospheric. Interesting vibes.
here is their upcoming album which has some good singles
Hamferð is also pretty slick.
Their new album Men guðs hond er sterk is an absolute banger. Absolutely crushing death-doom. Their previous album, Tàmsins likam was probably my favorite album of the year.
I’m listening to Botanist.
Fucking weird, but fucking good.
Hamfero is pretty solid.
In exchange I offer Devil
And Warmoon Lord
I’m a huge panopticon fan. I got one of their CDs from a local radical book shop the other day.
I’ve not heard of the other three, I’ll check em out!
Edit: I’ve listened to a song by all three, and I really dig Cauldron and Warmoon Lord. I can definitely see cauldron go in my catalogue for when I need to mix things up, they’re outside my normal go-to genres.
To throw two more back at you, check out Dawn Ray’d, an excellent melodic black metal/RABM band with some great lyrics, themes, and some solid songwriting. The band’s politics are similar to Panopticon, or Woe.
Others by No One, a prog metal concept album I can’t exactly describe. To me, it feels like the only band that has carried Native Construct’s torch, which is one of the best compliments I can give. It’s an enthralling listen.
Mandroid Echostar - Catchy prog metal with clean vocals
Anaal Nathrakh - Grind/black metal with industrial influences
The Arcane Order - Long-form melodic death metal
Arcania - Kinda like a thrashier Gojira
Rivers of Nihil - Proggy death metal
Unfathomable Ruination - Brutal tech death
Thantifaxath - Dissonant black metal
We Lost the Sea - Post-metal. I need to give some context for this one:
Departure Songs is inspired by failed, yet epic and honourable journeys or events throughout history where people have done extraordinary things for the greater good of those around them, and the progress of the human race itself. This is a celebration and a tribute. Each song has it’s own story and is a soundtrack to that story.
This is our 3rd album and our first instrumental album. We’re exploring new ground and exploring ourselves in the past 2 and a bit years since Chris went on his own journey. It’s slightly bleak with shimmers of hope and layers of emotion. It’s a tribute and a catharsis of emotion and honesty.
I.e., their vocalist died and this was their way of grieving. Incredibly deep cut IMO.
Alpinist - “heavylowfastslowdark hardcore”
Echostar reminds me of Witchcraft in that his vocals are so clean that it almost doesn’t jive with the genre.
I don’t dislike it by any means. Just have to work a little to get into it. Echostar is unbelievably technical. Their syncopation and noise control are otherworldly
Check out Unreqvited; Blackbraid; and Brutus
Gojira was one of my favorite concerts
Alcest. Run, don’t walk, to check them out.
Ty gonna do just that
Edit: fuck yes new top tier band discovered, thank you
I will never stop worshipping Primus and whatever whacky thing they do.
Burzum
