Doesn’t work, a tiny number of capitalists have more of them, and created a system / rigged game (bourgeois “democracy”) that perfectly serves their interests.
Not with that attitude. I mean, if you don’t eat McDonald’s, it is going to go away. People stopped eating Burger King and they are dropping like flies in my city.
Like, literally, you are on Lemmy for this reason, I would suppose: because time is money, and it takes time to collect data. So you aren’t spending time on social media outside of the fedeverse.
Burger Kings might go away via boycotting, and so would those places of work (not to glorify fastfood chains as employers, those suck major balls). Capitalism wouldn’t stop existing even if everyone stopped buying anything, because all those people would still need groceries, housing, electricity etc. All of those exist under capitalist relation to production. If people elected to stop paying their rent as boycott for example, the government would send the cops to forcibly remove those people and throw their shit on the street. Consumers boycotting any single aspects of capitalism will never be enough by itself to bring about societal change, because the whole of liberal society exists to serve the interests of capital.
