You don’t. You make them defend why it’s divisive and why it’s a political statement.
You don’t engage them. Make them engage you.
Same way you deal with racist/sexist jokes. Make them explain what’s funny.
Or in the case of the pride flag, make them explain why it’s a bad thing? Which is when they’ll say it’s being forced upon them, and the woke agenda is pushed down everyone’s throat and whatever.
Which is also very hard to defend against… That is, I myself find it difficult to find something to say.

I think you could tell them it is part of your free opinion stating (in german called “Freie Meinungsäußerung” which means you are allowed to say anything as long as it isn’t hate or damaging someones repututation.). And the core idea of “being forced on us” is wrong. Shure there are things some or most people do like misbehaving while driving cars, filming everything or smoking when it annoys everybody else. But wearing a pride flag1/2
@toothpaste_sandwich @squirrel @CosmicTurtle0 @StabbingSky 2/2 doesn’t do harm when i see it and is no symbol of hate. The “forced on us” argument is ridiculous, but the feeling of hate these people feel is real but forced on them by fascist narratives
You go Louis Theroux on them, instead of answering questions, you keep asking them questions until they get stuck and are forced to actually think for once rather than repeat their scripts
