I like visiting this library called Genesis
- Preußisch Blau ( @preussischblau@lemmy.ca ) 6•1 year ago
I like this archive from someone called Anna, personally.
- Lemminary ( @Lemminary@lemmy.ml ) 2•11 months ago
Oh wow, I did not know this person, but now I do
- BlinkerFluid ( @BlinkerFluid@lemmy.ml ) 2•1 year ago
Still using zlib with tor.
- peeonyou ( @peeonyou@lemmy.ml ) 2•1 year ago
or telegram
- Lemminary ( @Lemminary@lemmy.ml ) 1•11 months ago
Wait, how does it even work? Got a linky?
- peeonyou ( @peeonyou@lemmy.ml ) 3•11 months ago
i also just realized you can’t direct message on Lemmy? or maybe it’s a limitation of Jerboa? I’ve never tried before but i don’t see a way to dm u
- Lemminary ( @Lemminary@lemmy.ml ) 1•11 months ago
The DM button is under the tripple dot menu on the desktop. I haven’t used Jerboa that much so I can’t say tbh. But thanks for the info!
- peeonyou ( @peeonyou@lemmy.ml ) 1•11 months ago
I’m not sure if you have to have donated before or not but i did and they gave me a link to the bot… it works like irc where you just give it words and it returns results with links you can click to start the xfer over telegram
- Neuromancer ( @Neuromancer@lemmy.ml ) 5•1 year ago
Why not? Granted I only get through 1 or 2 books a month, but it’s a minuscule part of my budget. I can’t say I’ve looked into it, but I assume it’s also the best way to actually support the author.
- zekiz ( @zekiz@lemmy.ml ) 3•1 year ago
I bought the Monogatari series on humble bundle a few years ago. No DRM and all the books for about 20€
I also own some of them physically
- MammyWhammy ( @MammyWhammy@lemmy.ml ) 10•1 year ago
Basically my steam library as well.
- div ( @div@lemmy.ml ) 3•1 year ago
Same here, I just keep adding to the backlog I already have.
- edent ( @edent@lemmy.one ) 6•1 year ago
I wrote a script that emailed me whenever a book on my Amazon wishlist dropped to 99p.
Had to turn it off after a few weeks 😅.
- The saucest tof ( @TofuSauce@beehaw.org ) 4•1 year ago
That was a fun read, cool little tool!
- seditiouslizard ( @seditiouslizard@lemmy.one ) 6•1 year ago
Hey, I didn’t come here to be attacked in this brutal fashion.
- catacomb ( @catacomb@beehaw.org ) 5•1 year ago
Now I could read my backlog, or I could just browse Lemmy…
- darkfoe ( @darkfoe@lemmy.one ) 5•1 year ago
Oh god all the humble bundles of books. I’ve got years of backlog already
- I eat words ( @saint@group.lt ) English4•1 year ago
I realize that if I would be reading non-stop - I would not finish all books I have. Just a passing thought before buying a new one. ;D
- Narte ( @Narte@lemmy.ml ) 4•1 year ago
Libby and Hoopla are making it impossible to consume all of my audible credits to the point where I should just cancel my membership.
Using these services validates the ongoing funding of libraries while (hopefully) sending some money downstream to writers in the form of residuals.
- Lobstronomosity ( @Lobstronomosity@lemmy.ml ) 2•1 year ago
I like Libby, but:
- Their client for web browsers (on Windows at least) is really buggy with a touchscreen (Surface Pro)
- I like it for magazines, but they compress the hell out of the images and it’s mildly annoying
- I can’t read books on a Kindle as they only allow that in the US
Still though, it’s free so I can’t complain too much.
- Narte ( @Narte@lemmy.ml ) 2•1 year ago
Yeah, I use those two almost exclusively for audiobooks but I can imagine Libby’s desktop interface for ebooks would be shit. I really can stand reading on a backlit screen though and haven’t been able to figure out a good Amazon alternative for an e-ink based reader.
- Lobstronomosity ( @Lobstronomosity@lemmy.ml ) 2•1 year ago
Other than Kobo, I think you are pretty much out of luck. I have been following e-ink developments for at least 10 years now, and there has never ever been a really compelling solution.
I love libby
- KennyOmega ( @KennyOmega@lemmy.ml ) 3•1 year ago
I’m glad I’m not alone.
- vrojak ( @vrojak@feddit.de ) 3•1 year ago
Same, except with “game ideas that I can surely implement in a month why not”
- meli nasa ( @ambystoma@feddit.de ) 2•11 months ago
I swear, half my drive used to be filled with unity projects I worked on for two weeks before getting bored 😅
- meli nasa ( @ambystoma@feddit.de ) 2•11 months ago
Oh god. I do this so much, not just with books, but also with other kinds of media, and even programming projects… Sometimes I even read like 90% of a book and then for some reason start reading a completely different one and only finish the book months later.
- DestructoSpin ( @DestructoSpin@lemmy.ml ) 2•1 year ago
I recently found the kindle ebook daily deals page…and I have a buying problem now
- Kerrangutan ( @Kerrangutan@lemmy.one ) 1•1 year ago
