The sick thing is most donors have so much hoarded wealth their entire lineage will never spend it l… But it’s worth letting the earth burn to accumulate more.

Mothra ( @Mothra@mander.xyz ) 32•2 years agoWhat’s so hard to understand about this? There is a very popular meme that explains this person’s perspective, it has a dog having a cup of coffee in a burning room saying “this is fine”
DrQuint ( @DrQuint@lemm.ee ) 11•2 years agoReminder that the comic ends with the dog stressfully trying to put out the fire while whining that there was no reason to let it go that far.
Comment105 ( @Comment105@lemm.ee ) 6•2 years agoSome of us think human extinction would ultimately be for the best, even for humans. There is no civilized future; it’s exploitation, violence and horror all the way to the end. The faster the end comes the less of all that there will be. Humanity is not suited for interstellar permanence, we are defective.

Lvxferre ( @lvxferre@lemmy.ml ) 4•2 years agoThat’s nasty and almost outrageous. Meat shouldn’t be overcooked!
VikingHippie ( @VikingHippie@lemmy.wtf ) 3•2 years agoTrue, but neither regular pork nor long pork should be undercooked either. That’s how you get trichinosis…
aeternum ( @aeternum@kbin.social ) 3•2 years agoI agree. I’m actually hoping for human extinction. We’re a cancer on the earth. If bees went extinct, the natural world would collapse. If ants went extinct, again, the natural world would collapse. If humans went extinct? Well, not much would happen except that the natural world would achieve equilibrium again.

Railison ( @Railison@aussie.zone ) English20•2 years agoI mean, at one level it’s more logically valid to say we shouldn’t bother doing anything to compare combat climate change than saying climate change doesn’t exist.
It’s a weird level though.
ddkman ( @ddkman@lemm.ee ) 5•2 years agoTo be fair, they never said that. Saying that efforts right now are awfully misguided and completely incompetent efforts to sell even more product, and increase consuption EVEN more, such as EV-s and so on, is not climate change denial…

andyMFK ( @andyMFK@reddthat.com ) 8•2 years agoIt’s a reference to the movie Don’t Look Up. Not sure what EU is.
Lvxferre ( @lvxferre@lemmy.ml ) 12•2 years agoNot sure what EU is.
EU 4 = Europa Universalis 4, a strategy game about 1444-1821. The poster above is likely referring to this in-game event:
All the options for this event yield the same negative result, and the devs often add new ones (as a joke). And “there is no comet, please don’t look up!” does sound like the sort of stuff that those options say.
Anafabula ( @Anafabula@discuss.tchncs.de ) 4•2 years agoEuropa Universalis IV, a grand strategy game by Paradox. Haven’t played it though, so idk the reference
TehPers ( @TehPers@beehaw.org ) 2•2 years agoEU is the European Union, a group of countries in Europe that share common laws with each other.
