Big pass.

Big pass.

Hugs. Try to be gentle with yourself. <3

I wouldn’t.
The choices that I’ve made, mistakes included, are what brought me to where I am today… and gotdang I wouldn’t change that for the world.

I did the same thing, have one Beehaw account and one possumpat.io account for off-Beehaw activity. I did end up with some overlap because I’m forgetful, but it’s going okay so far.
I have accounts elsewhere that I enjoy as well that aren’t federated (Discuit, Tildes) and that’s good enough for me. I’d honestly prefer all these Lemmy instances to be separate and not federate at all, but I’m … a bit tired of the fediverse.

It’s fine, but I don’t enjoy having to deal with federation stuff. It’s doable, but it’s not intuitive, and everything is a bit too disorganized.

Oh, that’s funny, I’m the total opposite! I don’t mind a bling now and then, but pop-up notifications throw me for a loop :)
(Fuckin Discord.)

:3
Cowbees is my headcanon term. It’s fun!

I turn off notifications anywhere I’m able to. They break my focus and I don’t get any benefit from them (they’re like flies buzzing my face while I try to read; they stop me from what I was doing, but they don’t bring anything but annoyance to the table).

Some folks (myself included) find notifications to be really distracting. One pops up and whatever was in my head is now gone, whatever it was. Entirely focus-breaking.

I’m not sure if it’s under 10GB, but Cozy Grove is really nice. It’s on Steam and probably a console or two.
You’re a Spirit Scout, and every day you check in with some spirits on an island you shipwrecked on, and gather some materials, and do some dailies. It has many things that Animal Crossing also has, but it’s really ideal played for 10-30 minutes a day. There’s no real penalty to putting it down for a few months other than missing holidays. Super cute watercolor visual style.

Hoping we defederate from them proactively - I wouldn’t give them any more info than they already have…
There was some drama between the owner and the Mastodon folks over the policy of blocking certain countries. CoSo has flourished in the years since that’s occurred, though. It stays small, but the culture and community are amazing. I don’t consider CoSo part of the fediverse, it’s more of a well-tended walled garden built on the same stuff.
(I’m personally also not all that invested in the fediverse as a concept, either - I’m here because Reddit chased me off, but like… if Beehaw defederated from all the other Lemmy instances, as long as it was for a sensible reason and I liked the culture, I’d stick around. I never got into the broader Mastodon fediverse and haven’t felt its lack at all.)

Oh, this is good. Thank you! I’ve been having a blast with this one. Found this neopets-like.
Cowbees is low-key my favorite, too. ;)

I absolutely ham up Beehaw every time I say it. I also make really clumsy cowbee jokes. S’good.
Any Beehawians (Beehawans? Cowbees?) looking for a Twitter replacement might consider Counter.Social - it has a similar vibe to Beehaw and Tildes. It is not federated but is using a lot of Mastodon code from what I understand. The community sets it apart - and the owner’s insistence on no ads, no algo, security, privacy, etc.
It’s been around a few years and the infrastructure was upgraded with the last bit Twitter exodus, so CoSo remains stable where Bluesky and some others have been screwy. You can find me there with the same username - say hi if you pop in! It’s a super friendly community :)

Oh no. Please no.

Road 96 was great, seconding that recommendation!

Enjoy the backlog if you get a chance! He’s got some good stuff.
Hugs, y’all. Do what you feel is best. <3
I’ve been on Discuit more than Lemmy, but honestly? If Beehaw defederates or switches to a different platform, I’m more likely to visit Beehaw on a daily basis than I have been. I just prefer well-tended walled gardens. I grew up with forums being the way. Smaller communities feel the best. Even when the software base is good, the community management part is … complicated with the fediverse.
