That’s any interesting idea. Curious to see if it would work.
May be they already realize it, meaning, they saw all the popular communities already created here, and would much rather stay there as mods.
I didn’t know api changes means 3rd party apps no longer can show nsfw content. Nobody’s going to pay a subscription and not be able to see stuff that they can see on the official app. Looks like reddit is giving all 3rd party app developers a shitty deal whichever way you cut it.
Yeah I wouldn’t have ever signed up for lemmy if this api thing hadn’t come about. This is my first fediverse experience. I was pissed at reddit, but now I don’t care about reddit one way or another. Lemmy has gained enough users to sustain itself even if there is no more mass migration. There is an active community here that will help lemmy grow organically over time.
I don’t think it’s anything to feel bad about. Reddit uses the user data for their revenue. It’s only fair we get some use out of reddit. None of the content is created by reddit. It is/was/will be created by people like us. We can stop contributing our knowledge/opinions anymore on reddit, but we don’t have to feel bad for finding solutions to our problems posted in reddit. At this point, I’m considering reddit like a nature trail. Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints. In reddit’s case, I won’t even leave a footprint, and I’ll take what I need if I find it.
I’m seeing the same thing
Their posts don’t seem to deviate much from their usual posts. Target achieved, I guess?
Is there a reason why they’re doing this? Blackout’s not even political. They just want to be contrarian to everything.
Thanks for pointing it out, appreciated.
nice. Sounds similar to some flowers with nectar deep inside so that the bees have to get pollen all over them by reaching deep inside.
Looks like one of those carnivorous plants. Does it serve any purpose for the plant to look like this?
some sort of a hall of fame where we can post about great ‘bees’ in beehaw?
Hi, I submitted a post earlier today requesting to create some kids related communities with friendlier names (/c/kidsbeingsilly, /c/kidsbeingsmart, /c/kidsbeingkids, or even just a /c/kids) for kids related posts instead of the reddit versions (/r/kidsarefuckingsmart and /r/kidsarefuckingstupid, which always makes me hesitate when I want to share posts to somebody I know). Is it possible to create one or more of those communities before July 1? I know I can create those on one of the other instances, but I think beehaw is the perfect place for something like that.
Something like Class Dojo
That’s a good idea
Nice. Iirc, instapaper also bought themselves out. I wanted to use it, but my kobo has pocket integration.
I think rexxit is the catalyst to get the platform ready. I don’t think rexxit is a one and done thing. It’s gonna be more of a constant trickle, and lemmy is in a very good place to absorb more users. I browsed /r/all today, and saw many comments of people saying the frontpage sucks because there’s no content. Spez might like to pretend there’s no impact to reddit, but there’s certainly going to be a big impact at least in the near term.
