this week has been pretty for me, but productive; i’m two books ahead of my reading schedule (to read 35 books this year–i’m at 12) and managed to just gun through a 500 page book in a day or so after weeks of not wanting to read
Doing well, thanks. Getting through my work week, and looking forward to a long weekend so I can relax. I have begun work on a small project that’ll keep my brain engaged (Hopefully). Exciting times :)
Wow! Sounds like you’re crushing your goal. I have ADHD and it’s a struggle to make myself sit down and read, but I’m aiming to read more books and/or listen to audiobooks this year. Reading your post is actually a nice boost of motivation for me, so thank you! lol
My week has been kind of wild so far, but I did get a new game called, “Shadows of Doubt” that is really cool. It’s a very deep, film noir style detective game where you solve murders. It does not hold your hand and allows you to investigate however you see fit, which is a little overwhelming at first but really fun.
@alyaza Great that you’re reading. I need to up my reading pace as well.
About last week, well, guess that was fine. I just got a brand new Nokia G22 as I wanted to get the experience of a repairable phone (I couldn’t afford a Fairphone and when the news broke out about its launch I immediately eyed it, as my current phone was already due to be replaced) - I really like it so far, it works just fine for my needs and the battery lasts a lot (more than one day).
I’m almost off to bed as it is almost midnight here in Romania and I caught a cold - due to which I couldn’t really sleep last night.
Edit: It’s great that you started this thread, OP. Beehaw is such a wonderful community.
@alyaza ohhh, congrats! I barely get to read 2-3 books per year anymore, haha. Guess it was in part because of the various stuff happening in my life (although my online life might also be a culprit, ngl).
I recently started reading this book. It’s about the formal Royal palace - now turned into a National Art Museum and it’s various transformations over time, during the various reigns.
I had a wonderful weekend - went to a conference titled queering psychedelics, which was about the intersection of queer identity and psychedelic medicine and science and it was quite unlike any other conference I’ve ever been to in the most wonderful of ways.
Unfortunately I also partied too hard that weekend each day after the conference and ended up waking up at like 4a on Monday sneezing and sick. I have tickets and plans to go out thurs, fri, sat of this week so I may need to sell the tickets or hope I get better by then 😩
Busy week. Exploring Lemmy in downtime. Liking the software so far but wishing there was more activity. Beehaw seems to be the most active “general” community I’ve found so far.
I’m really sorry to hear that. Please make sure to practice self-care! Keep eating, staying hydrated, getting as much sleep as you can, and taking care of your emotional needs. I hope you all find a swift and positive resolution.
today’s book: Modern Sudanese Poetry: An Anthology
— Wedding Parade, Muhammad el-Mahdi el-Magzoub

Quite impressive

My immediate family members are trying to avert a serious crisis…So not too good right now.
Hopefully it will be past you soon. I wish you and your relatives better times.
Thank you for the well wishes. Unfortunately, we are still in crisis mode and it could last several weeks.

😟 Hang in there.
