Well, if everything ran Linux…
Well, if everything ran Linux…
Nethack! It’s basically the original roguelike, if you liked shattered pixel dungeons then you’ll like nethack. There are also several other open source rogelikes to check out as well… including the original Rogue!
I’d really like to go this year, but probably won’t make it sadly. I was lucky enough to go last year, and I would say it’s the best tech conference, despite it being my first.
In any case I’m excited to watch the talks when they get uploaded!
The thing that really bothers me about grilled cheese is that they aren’t actually cooked on a grill (most of the time).
Yeah this is THE best interface for git. Worth getting into Emacs just to use it id say.
Emacs, that’s all I need!
I know it’s been a joke for as long as I can remember, but I really think this year (or last) was the year of the Linux desktop. All the work done on proton has seemed to bring lots of gamers over who were tired of Windows bs.
I was trying to lookup stuff about mechanical keyboards on ddg earlier today, and several results on the first page were reddit threads. So it can definitely happen with some other hobbies/topics I imagine.
Same, I could never really get into mastodon as I never liked Twitter much, so I’m pretty happy I found out about Lemmy. I know everyone on this site has been saying this, but it feels fresh, and the fact that it’s all open source and community owned is great.
My favorite thing about this is that emacs actually has M-x butterfly
now that randomly flips a bit.
It took me a bit to figure out. Open the sidebar, you should see something that says “Anonymous” on top, click that and there is an add account button.
Yeah im hoping some of the smaller hobbyist communities start moving over.
Blink, marquees, along with fire and under construction gifs! Can’t forget autoplay midis either…
It’s the name of the reddit alien logo. It’s also the name they call the employees apparently.
Ask Jeeves about en peasant.
I’d add Baldurs Gate 1 & 2 to this as well, may be the best crpgs ever imo! Planescape and Baldurs Gate both use the infinity game engine if I recall correctly.
If you’re looking for something a little more modern but with a very similar feel to those, I really like Pillars of Eternity.
I personally like duck duck go, the results are generally pretty good, and if they aren’t, it’s easy to search on other engines using DDG’s bangs. You just type “!g search term” and you can search on Google, and there’s a bunch more, like !w for Wikipedia, !aur for the arch user repo etc etc
These are great! Using the gnu one on my dashboard now.
Well yeah, it’s a Linux variant!
