In modern American usage, more or less. “Libertarian” used to be much broader - ancaps cleaved it off of libertarian socialism in the 20th c.

Memes@lemmy.ml•Deposits should be held by the city. The landlord should be forced to prove they deserve it in a court of law.
3·9 个月前Meanwhile in America, my old ll tried to tell me I couldn’t have my deposit back because “it’s summer and the bank is on vacation”

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•How do I find local stores for basics?
1·10 个月前The US made a lot of its own sugar in the past either though sugar beets, or by growing cane in the extreme south, but that era is largely over (ignoring corn syrup): it’s cheaper to import it from places where imperialism keeps wages low.
Most US food is not local, unless you go to a farm share or market.

A common, reasonably evidence based, protein target for bodybuilding is 1-2 g/kg, with the cursed unit of 1g/lb being about the upper limit of what’s useful. That’s probably what this post is referencing.

2·2 年前Huh! Mine popped when I planted them in the fall, and haven’t gone dormant at all - they hung out with the garlic being green all winter.

6·2 年前I’m excited that my saffron bulbs overwintered. I’m growing in containers in NYC (7b). We’ll see if they survive the summer!
It is a pill though.

Politics•Trump has been unable to post bond for $464 million judgment, his lawyers say
7·2 年前In this case the bond is because he’s appealing a civil judgement that’s been reached. This is different from a bail bond. He’s not at risk of jail over this unless he gets in contempt of court.

3·2 年前At least in my faang office, there’s essentially zero ports to plug into. If you have a desktop, there’s a port, but that’s the exception. I’ve never seen anyone plug a laptop in.

My experience with it on Android had several weird bugs
- Consumed a lot of battery
- Crashed on swapping focus to another app
- Opening the app would get stuck connecting to the game state server (even though the app works fine offline) so I had to use airplane mode to launch the app
These seem resolved now
This is a game I keep coming back to. I love it, and it’s got great replayability. I’m glad the phone version works well now.

Politics•Joe Biden Plans To Slash Bank Overdraft Fees To As Little As $3
4·2 年前A lot of us in the US still pay rent in checks. I get them from my bank in books of a hundred, and there’s no upper limit on how big they can be.
Anything that risks bouncing requires getting a fancy check (certified) where they take the money out before issuing the check.

I fondly remember my organic chemistry lab professor giving us all a lecture that was something like this:
“I see that you children have learned how good acetone is at cleaning glassware. And you are correct: it is excellent. However, you cannot pour it down the sink and we have to pay for hazardous waste disposal. So use soap, water, and elbow grease instead.”
