For sale: jorts, never worn
It took me this long to realize that trump wears that same arrangement of suit colors everywhere because it’s red, white, and blue 🤦♀️ JD Vance has started exclusively wearing it too I think
Here’s the forum discussion on including Librewolf as a recommended browser:

It’s quite long as the topic has been open since 2022; all other posts about Librewolf are closed by mods and the discussion is redirected here.
The LibreWolf Debian repository was down all of last week. I peeked over at their forum and it looks like the team is really struggling to maintain the project since a key member left. Its struggles to keep up with security updates is why its no longer being recommended by Privacy Guides. I’m trying out Mullvad browser right now to see how it fairs
It’s not stopping the far-right, don’t let it stop you!

Hey man, I’m sorry you’re feeling that way. I can absolutely relate to all of that. The way things are going in the world is certainly making things feel darker than ever.
If these are of any consolation I’d like to share them; they are a few realizations that I’ve come to over time, and that I try to bring myself back to when I start feeling those feelings:
I can’t control the world. There are things in motion that I simply won’t be able to affect, set that way long before I ever came along, and that ball will keep rolling long after I’m gone.
I’m not a failure for not becoming a millionaire, famous musician, successful executive; for not having the relationship I wanted by this point; for not owning a home yet; or whatever high standards I held my future self to. I know more than that person did, and that person, compared to me today, had a very naive outlook on how things will or ought to be.
You are up against the most advanced technologies we have ever created; the most conniving of villains; the worst pollutions; the greatest wage gap in human history; inflation is skyrocketing and unemployment is too; we are in a great recession; you have to date through apps, and we are more isolated than at any time in our history. You are not a failure for struggling against these pressures!
I’m going to die one day, but I’m here right now. The ride will end; I don’t need to get off of it early, and I can experience things like awe and wonder while I’m here. And I can help and love people.
I am not a failure for these things. My only fault was ever thinking that I, the world, my life, should be so perfect; and even then, being wrong is expected of us. We are dreamers. Don’t be so hard on yourself, you are doing so great.
His team over at Last Week Tonight pull lots of funny stunts like this and have made quite a few hilarious websites. I wouldn’t be surprised if this one is featured on the next episode!

If only he had spent some skill points in Charisma, he’d have the dialogue option to talk Hoover into self destructing, but alas
Fwiw I’m new to Linux and went with KDE (using X11) and it seems totally buggy as shit. I love it though. I don’t even wanna try the other desktop environments
I’m going to go against the grain here and recommend that you NOT use Mint. I’ve been using a linux for a month now, so I’m new to it like you.
My first time trying Linux was Mint, and I didn’t like it at all. There was too much crap downloaded on it, and it abstracted the underlying systems too much, so I found it all very confusing. I suggest that you download a distro that Mint is based on, and then install the actual stuff you want on it.
Mint is based on Ubuntu, which is based on Debian. I decided to go with Debian as a total noob and it makes waaay more sense to me this time around. I enjoy customizing it to my liking rather than Mint doing it all for me—often in ways I don’t like.
Just chiming in to throw some light hearted shade at lemmy.world for defederating from the piracy communities. My time on lemmy.world was really poor, and I came away not thinking too highly of Lemmy as a whole. My experience in different instances has been a world of difference, and I finally get fantastic content in my feeds and am fully on board with Lemmy
I can’t entirely recall the precise details now, but I was trying to uninstall Nvidia and Mesa packages to fix some driver issues. Some mesa-related packages were remaining, and I couldn’t figure out why, so I manually typed their names in and purged them, then proceeded to watch python, the desktop environment — everything — all uninstall haha.
I will never forgive Microsoft for just straight up deleting everyone’s (mine) MineCraft purchases and accounts, and then having the gall to tell us to buy it again. It’s still in my Microsoft Store purchase history, for Christ’s sake.
I’d sooner buy Skyrim 4 more times than buy back what was stolen from me.
Seems intelligent and I’ve enjoyed some of his videos. I don’t know much about him other than he’s a bit… intense? and he’s sparked controversy with some people. I looove the FUTO keyboard app he’s associated with. It’s the best TTS keyboard I’ve found, and I refuse to use the Google/Samsung/etc equivalents
Drug addiction. Its not necessarily easy to fix, but we know how to treat it and take care of our vulnerable, we just don’t: social workers, public services, shelters, safe drug sites with drug counselors. We’ve become so numb to the mass suffering on a societal and individual level.
Personal anedcote, a year ago, a man was dying of an OD next to our Tim Horton’s drive thru, splayed out in the middle of the road, and the dozens of people driving by cared more about getting their coffee and getting to work than to even call an ambulance. I went to the pharmacy down the road and got a narcan kit and administered it, but Jesus Christ I lost a lot of trust and faith in my fellow man that day. Not enough people care; even people I love and respect say disgusting things about homeless people.
Cheers I’ll skibidi to that
Allowing tech giants to monopolize all of our communications was a mistake that was always going to lead to this. What alternatives do we have? There’s grapheneOS, but even that is placing too much trust in Google’s proprietary aspects of the hardware. I wish non-android linux phones were at a usable state.
I’m so close to ditching android and smart phones entirely in favour of a dumb Nokia and maybe a mini tablet for when I need the power.
ur a towel
