  • “It’s hard to predict if Bernie would have beaten Trump. The GOP likely has a binder full of opposition research ready to go if Bernie had become nominee, with enough “scandals” and “socialist scare quotes” to mobilize their base even more. Meanwhile, Sanders didn’t even get more votes in the primary”

Even if Bernie had gotten “more” votes in the primary, the DNC would have never made him their candidate.

Bernie was/is an independent in the senate so he had no incentive to play ball with the DNC or the well known “bending the knee”.

I am not from the US but I followed the 2015/16 primary with great interest because of Bernie Sanders and was hoping that the US was making the right call in electing him but the deck was and is stacked against him.

The playbook about Bernie sanders has been tried by Hilary Clinton. Bernie even said during a debate if people could stop talking about the emails because it was irrelevant. His problem was that he was to nice and issue focused in his approach but it actually is also the charm of an authentic figure like Bernie Sanders.

What Bernie has and Hilary hadn’t was consistency in his political career, and “fresh” ideas that resonated with the people.

The fact that he also was the only one who ran without a Super Pac also made sure that he could give the appearance of not being bought by the companies.

Bernie has been on the right side of history more than once and the receipts are for everyone to see.

He would have mopped the floor with trump if it came to the elections.

For the DNC/Democrats itself it doesn’t matter who has the majority. There is a status quo and the threat is someone rocking the boat.

To this day I wish my country actually had a Bernie Sanders who could run for the MP title.

This is one of my favorite clips about Bernie Sanders that say it all; https://youtu.be/5M2SQzA363A

  • “The core idea is that (at least in North America and Europe), people who are considered “white” have privilege”

What countries in Europe are we talking about?

As a POC from a european country I have never felt discriminated based on the color of my pigment and have had the exact same opportunities as the people who would classify as “white”.

I would classify the discrimination in Europe more based on the fact if you are an immigrant and the specific country of origin.

The above is frowned upon much more.

Even then diversity can also be reached to make sure to target more people from different countries who then bring different cultures to a forum if we talk just about Europe.

It is impossible to talk about Europe as 1 entity, there are so many different countries and cultures within Europe, which is diverse in itself.

It is just (hopefully) some food for thought.

  • 1 set of games that felt ahead of their time were Pokemon Gold/Silver and Crystal.

They had so many interesting mechanics and mechanics that (for some reason) were not introduced in the later games that it almost feels like robbery.

    • Day/night time switch with corresponding pokemon. I remember you could encounter night specific pokemon and also daytime pokemon in the night who were fast asleep when starting the battle.
    • Two regions in 1 game.
    • End boss as Red in MT silver
    • Rematches with trainers.
    • Pokewatch system overall
    • Hapiness system for Eevee evolutions
    • The encounter system for suicuine, Entei and Raikou
    • Pokemon crystal with the Battle tower.
    • Moving sprites in pokemon crystal.

Probably even more, but for me it is still the best designed pokemon game to date and really ahead of it’s time.

It also felt like one of the last games that was oozing with the passion that the developers put in it.

  • The relay creator did the math and came to the conclusion that an subscription model might maybe work but it would be to tight. It reads as the person is saying that it is unfeasonable.

You say he gave in? As far as I can read that is stated nowhere.

    Even if the apps would comply;

    • Reddit will jack the prices again when they see fit.
    • Reddit also wins with this pricing because they are gonna pocket the cash.

    >Reddit will limit ‘Recommend’ and NFSW content to its official app. >

And ohw yeah you are gonna get less content for your subscription. It is all in bad faith.

  • I agree. I never moderated a subreddit because I have seen what vitrol people spew at moderators.

I actually thought that moderators were getting compensated and I was extremely baffled when I heard they weren’t. I cannot understand why someone would take that role to just get piled on day by day.

The projection part is more focused on the people who scream (1 of my favorites); “What is gonna happen is that after 48 hours people come back, suck it up and install the new app”

I can understand the sentiment and alot of people will probably do that, that is a choice one makes.

I do think that the power users and/or people who contribute to the community are looking elsewhere at some point.

I also don’t have an illusion that Reddit implodes overnight and I will be suprised if people will leave en masse after 48 hours.

But I do know and that is a sentiment that I keep saying; Reddit will rail it’s userbase one way or the other. They already made it clear that they keep monetizing until they are profitable but companies always want more and more. So you are effectively getting railed eventually and continuously.
