Can confirm that bootleg printer ink is a thing. It used to be all I used. While sites dedicated to it off Amazon doesn’t cut it.
But as someone else pointed out, manufacturers have been adding “DRM” to cartridges in more recent years. Even in older printers, I will get complaints doubting the authenticity of the cartridges I was putting in.
I’d be kinda down for this
This. I tend to listen while doing chores or working out. So much easier to stay a functional adult AND get my story fix.
I think they’re mostly complaining about the fact that RPGs immerse you in such a way that you’re not WATCHING something but PERFORMING the action (so first person). And thus violating agency. Whereas books make it clear that you’re spectating (usually. choose your own adventure ala “you walk down the hall…” stuff as you stated)
I still think this post is hella flawed, and I agree with your assessment. But I think they’re offended by the fact that THEY have to move analog sticks and buttons to move the story forward.
I’ve thought about this but always get turned off at the thought of strangers in my little messy 1 bedroom apartment.
Any tips for finding a good one or additional points to help me make the plunge?
Hm. I’ve got a basic 5.1 setup via sound bar and have dialed center up to max. It sorta works, but it makes the “surround” a lot less impactful because of the disproportionate levels (eg explosions straight ahead still boom).
I always though this was a deliberate mixing decision for “immersion”
This. It’s also mixing that’s intended to be “immersive”; explosions are meant to make you shit your pants while conversations are meant to be at the same level as someone in the room with you.
Not ideal for apartment dwellers with no insulation in their walls or floors, like myself.
Interesting — coming from the Linux world where docker is an ‘apt install’ away, I struggled with docker installation on Mac and settled on their client because of various “gotchas” I saw online. And even then got pissed because the client overwrote my local ‘kubectl’ bin.
Guess I’ll have to reevaluate.
Yeah, I’ve always thought it could be a good retort when someone is dissatisfied with the amount of resources you’ve already put towards some thing.
“Wow, thanks for getting me only 20 bucks in my birthday card”
“you’re only volunteering for a day? They are volunteering for at least three”
“Gross, you’re got me a used laptop?”
I feel this for all the news consumers that used to use twitter as a sort of aggregator. But also: RSS used to do the job (better?), and one of the reasons it “died” was because of Twitter’s rise.
I have trouble finding RSS feeds on news sites these days, at least. Maybe that will change with this.
Got my immediate family on it. Miss some features when forced elsewhere.
Oof. The palpably awkward moments I’ve created cause so much cringe in hindsight. Adrenaline (?) is a helluva drug.
For me: Indents should be as big as whoever’s reading wants them to be. I’m not gonna force a font down your throat either.
And why use 2x, 4x, etc the chars on WHITESPACE of all things?
I hadn’t considered this, but this would be awesome.
Having it go 2 ways and draft new articles (thinking TODO pages) based on Slack mentions would be interesting too, I think?
IMO, these are the kinds of moves that’ll catalyze a new piracy movement in the mainstream.
I’ve considered that this might be a helpful tactic for NSFW communities — leave the moderation on Reddit and just bring content over here 🤷
kbin looks nice, though this is the first I’m hearing of it 🧐
That’s really my main concern too. Also, I am already on call at my day job, I’d rather not sign up to do that for a passion project too.
One thing I’ve thought of is trying to set up a an instance that mirrors some subreddits via RSS. No comments though, because API access.
Mm that’s a good counter. I concede!
Please forgive the multiple posts. My UI is glitchy af and reports errors when there were none.
