  • Eesh, reading the comments and the immature modlog response is disappointing, that was actually an interesting and respectful discussion in a community that doesn’t seem to have any activity. It seems like lemmy as a whole is just falling into the same issues non-federated discussion/social media have at this point with moderation and communities. It’s like there’s no real solution; the less people there are, the more insular and detached the community and its moderation is, but the more people there are, the more generic and poor quality the discussion becomes. There’s a lot of communities like that one too that you can see aren’t really communities, but just a few people posting over and over to prop it up as one. Then the minute there’s some discussion from a new person, they’re removed.

I will say communities about wildlife and science, like the ones on mander.xyz, are consistently good. Seems to be an exception. Maybe it’s because it attracts people who want to learn and discuss things they’re passionate about? Maybe some topics are just doomed to fail no matter where their communities are. I’m going on a tangent now, but I’m just tired of every space on the internet being like this, even the ones meant to break away from it. Honestly Beehaw as a whole is pretty good though, I did stop using this account since the announcement about it leaving but it still seems to be going strong!

  • WindowKill - $4.99

The most clever bullet hell I’ve ever played, best experienced on mouse and keyboard.

    Windosill - $2.99

More of an interactive art piece. Very short but I still think about it years later. (Some of their other stuff is available online for free and is similarly enjoyable)

    Magic Wand - $3.99

Like a surreal, jumbled mess that seems to parody a badly translated JRPG. Another short and sweet experience.

    HYPER DEMON - $14.99*

Like a nightmarish fever dream. If you like old school FPS mechanics like rocket jumping and bunnyhopping you’ll feel right at home. This one is a little difficult to show people gameplay of because it looks impossible to decipher, but when you’re actually playing it and really start to get entranced, it’s an experience like nothing else. The way it gives you a 360 fov is an incredible mechanic.
*(It’s also 40% off for ~40 hours as of this comment, making it $8.99)

    Chicory: A Colorful Tale - $19.99

My favorite game of all time. Adorable puzzle game where you paint the world, with a story about what makes someone an artist. One thing I really like about this is the open ended way it lets you approach creative tasks; It’s up to you to decide how much you want to invest, there’s no scoring system to gamify the art portions, which is very in-line with the story to me.
Edit: Oh, and a great soundtrack by Lena Raine!

  • I really want to like Mirage more, but I just don’t like her 3…or 4…or 2.

I know her 2 has some meme-y fun potential so I may have to give it another try. Her 3 and 4 are ruined by the light dependency for me though. If she could control the light level around her somehow, or toggle between the two buffs of her 3, she’d be in a way better place for me. Right now if I go back to her it would be after subsuming over her 3 most likely.

It’s too bad because I really love her deluxe skin.

  • I don’t know if you were around for the launch, but it was a pretty infamously bad because practically none of the promised features were present. Landing on asteroids, fighting space stations, significant factions, big space battles, sand/water planets, complex crafting, creatures affecting the environment, etc.

I think Hello Games has done a great job turning things around, and shown that they do respect their players, but the launch was definitely a disaster.

  • I’m a pretty casual player but I’ve been trying out a few.

Guardian pistols are really fun, that’s my favorite so far. The 2 looks a little weird sometimes but overall I really enjoy the look and feel. Two charges on the 4 is nice.

I didn’t care much for Engie shortbow, it’s slow and boring to use. Just being 4 of the same AoE attack with different effects is uninteresting.

I was real excited for the Elementalist pistol but I don’t like that only your 2 and 3 generate a stored bullet, or that the charges are element-specific. It seems like it really restricts your potential to weave abilities together, I ended up just doing 2 + 3. I hope they make it feel a little more fluid.
